Where to Catch Goby in Stardew Valley

The Farmer having caught a Goby in Stardew Valley.

In Stardew Valley Update 1.6 there is a new fish players can catch. This new fish is the Goby who comes alongside the addition of waterfalls at various locations around the valley. If you are wondering where to catch this new fish, this guide will help. Below I walk you through where to catch Goby in Stardew Valley.

Goby Location in Stardew Valley

To catch the Goby in Stardew Valley, players need to fish in a very specific area during any season. The area I speak of is in Cindersnap Forest. Make your way to the southern section, where the Hat Mouse and sewer entrance resides, and head over to the waterfall at the very south edge of the map.

You can fish for Gobys at these two spots in Cindersnap Forest.

Once you reach this location, stand on the edge, facing south, and look down. At the base of the waterfalls, you will see two pools of water. You can stand on either the east or west bank of the river and fish down into both of them. Fishing in these pools gives you a 15% chance to hook a Goby. You can improve your odds of hooking a Goby by using a Curiosity Lure and Goby Bait.

As of Update 1.6, catching a Goby is required to complete the Fish Collection page. Catching one of these fishes also contributes to the unlockable Bobber styles you can equip inside Willy’s Shop.

This is just one of several new additions introduced to Stardew Valley in Update 1.6. Among them are a new Green Rain weather event for players to experience, a new Turtle pet, and even new Trinkets to unlock. Explore those guides to discover more details about each of them.
