D, Hunter of the Dead is an important NPC in Elden Ring whose questline spans the entire story. His journey is intertwined with the quests of several other characters, making it a pivotal part of the game’s narrative. In this guide, we will walk you through each step of his questline, ensuring you don’t miss any crucial details.

Where to Find D, Hunter of the Dead

You will first encounter D, Hunter of the Dead early in the game, in Stormhill Cemetery, located just west of Summonwater Village. He can be found standing over a body, where he will warn you about the dangers of the area and advise you to turn back. This interaction marks the start of his questline.

Steps to Begin D’s Questline:

1. Speak to D at Stormhill Cemetery (west of Summonwater Village) or at the Roundtable Hold, depending on where you encounter him in the game.
2. Obtain a Deathroot (a quest item). The easiest source is the Tibia Mariner boss in Summonwater Village.
3. Accept D’s introduction in Summonwater Village or at the Roundtable Hold. This will mark a Sending Gate on your map, leading you to the Bestial Sanctum.

Find D’s Brother

1. Travel to the Siofra Aqueducts, accessible via the Upper Siofra River area (unlocked after defeating Starscourge Radahn).
2. Before the double-gargoyle boss fight, look to the right of the stairs leading to the boss arena. Here you’ll find D’s twin brother.

Finish Fia’s Questline to See D’s Brother Take Revenge

The final step in D’s questline occurs after completing Fia’s quest. Here’s how to finish it:

1. Ride the coffin in the Great Waterfall Basin to reach the Deeproot Depths.
2. Navigate to the northernmost point of the area and defeat Fia’s Champions.
3. After the fight, approach Fia, seated next to the sending gate. When prompted, choose “No, I want to be held” to initiate a secret conversation. Keep talking to her, then give her the Cursemark of Death.
4. Fia will hold you and grant you the Radiant Baldachin’s Blessing. Exhaust her dialogue, then reload the area by sitting at the Site of Grace. Speak to her again and reload once more.
5. Fia will fall asleep. Approach her body to enter the Deathbed Dream and defeat the Lichdragon Fortisasax boss.
6. After the fight, return to Fia, approach her body, and take the Mending Rune of the Death-Prince. Sit at the Site of Grace.
7. D’s brother will appear, kill Fia, and drop items near her, including her armor set. Interact with D’s brother and reload the area.
8. Loot D’s brother’s location to get the Twinned Set and the Inseparable Sword.
