Elden Ring D Hunter of the Dead Questline Guide
In Elden Ring D is an NPC that players can meet early in the game. This NPC has a full fledged questline that players can complete. This questline runs through the entire story. To complete this questline use our Elden Ring D Hunter of the Dead questline guide below.
Where to Find D
The first location you can find D is at the start of the game in the Stormhill cemetery just west of Summonwater Village. He is standing over a body at this location. Speak to him and he warns you to turn back from this area. This begins his questline. Complete these steps:
- Speak to D in the Stormhill Cemetery to the west of Summonwater Village or in the Roundtable Hold (depending on where he is in your game).
- Get a Deathroot. Easiest source is the Tibia Mariner in Summonwater Village.
- Accept introduction from D in Summonwater Village or in the Roundtable Hold. This marks a portal on your map to the Bestial Sanctum.
- Go to the Bestial Sanctum and speak to Gurranq. This unlocks D as a merchant.
- D can be summoned in the Black Knife Catacombs.
From this point on you need to switch you focus to another character named Fia. Fia has a rather long questline that ties into Ranni’s and D’s. The ending of Fia’s questline can lead to the outcome of D’s.
Advance Fia’s and Ranni’s Questline’s
D will go to the Roundtable Stronghold where you can find him for the rest of the game/his life. To advance his questline you now want to focus your attention on Fia’s quest which starts upon reaching the Altus Plateau. During Fia’s questline she asks you to find the owner of a Weathered Dagger. Agree to do this then give the dagger to D. Reload the area and Fia has killed D in the room down the hall from the Blacksmith. Loot D’s body to get the Twinned Set. Fia will disappear after you speak to her, going to the Deeproot Depths.
While advancing Fia’s questline you also want to be advancing Ranni’s quest. About halfway through Ranni’s quest, after you’ve delivered her the treasure, you will receive the Carian Inverted Statue which allows you to invert the Cairn Study Hall to reach the Divine Tower of Liurnia. On top of this tower is the Cursemark of Death.
Find D’s Brother
With D gone you may think the questline is over, but it isn’t. The next step in the quest is to locate D’s twin brother. This twin is mentioned by the sorcerer Rogier. To find the twin make your way to the Siofra Aqueducts by way of the upper Siofra River area accessible through the crater left by the star upon defeat of Starscourge Radahn.
In this area make your way to the stairs just before the double-gargoyle boss fight. To the right of the stairs leading to the boss arena you will find D’s brother. Speak to him and give the Twinned Set. This sets up the quest’s ending.
Finish Fia’s Questline to See D’s Brother Take Revenge
The last step in this questline is to finish out Fia’s quest. To do this ride the coffin in the Great Waterfall Basin. This takes you to the Deeproot Depths. From here make your way to the boss arena in the northernmost upper point by using the roots in the city. Once there defeat Fia’s Champions.
After Fia’s Champions have been defeated speak to Fia who is sitting next to the sending gate. Tell Fia “No, I want to be held” when prompted. She will hold you. Talk in secret with her. Keep speaking to her then give her the Cursemark of Death. She will hold you tight and give you Radiant Baldachin’s Blessing. Exhaust her dialogue then reload the area by sitting at the Site of Grace. Speak to her once more then reload the area again.
Fia will go to sleep. Approach her body and interact with it to enter the Deathbed Dream. Defeat the Lichdragon Fortisasax boss in the dream. After this fight you return to Fia. Approach her body and take the Mending Rune of the Death-Prince. Sit at the Site of Grace and D’s brother will appear by Fia and kill her. Loot the items near Fia for her armor set. Complete the interaction with D’s brother then reload the area. Loot where D’s brother was to get the Twinned Set back and the Inseparable Sword.
