Genshin Impact Version 2.0 gets release date, brings new location to game
The next update for Genshin Impact is coming on July 21st and it’s a big one. Announced via a livestream earlier today, Genshin Impact Version 2.0 will feature a ton of new content for the popular free-to-play title. From a new island, new characters, new weapons, the update is the biggest yet. Let’s take a closer look at the announcement below.
The biggest new addition coming in Version 2.0 is the addition of a new island called Inazuma. Inazuma is based on real-world Japan and features six main islands to explore. The island location is based on the underlying theme of Electro (lightning). This means the design choices come from that element including thunderstorms.
At launch only three of the six islands will be available. Some notable locations on the islands include Sacred Sakura and the Grand Nakurami Shrine. With the new location addition comes a new storyline and quests weaving around the Elecro Archon Baal.
Rounding out the update are new bosses, new weapons, new artifacts, and other changes coming. One addition that stuck out to me is farming which is coming to the Serenitea Pot. This addition will allow you to grow certain crops in your realm to ease up on collecting grind. There are also new character companions coming in the update: Ayaka, Yoimiya, and Sayu (previously revealed by MiHoYo).
Alongside the release of Version 2.0 there is a major new feature coming to the game. Cross-save functionality is coming in Version 2.0 for PlayStation, PC, and mobile. This means you will be able to play across a wide variety of devices while still keeping your progress. The system can be read about here.
