Where to Sell Items in Red Dead Redemption 2

Where to Sell Items in Red Dead Online
Speak with the Shopkeeper to start selling.

Red Dead Redemption 2 features a looting mechanic which can result in you carrying around a number of different items in your inventory. Some of these items can be useful to use, while others are simply there to be sold. Below I will show you where to sell items in Red Dead Redemption 2.

General Store

The first, and most obvious place to sell items you collect while out adventuring is the General Store. Each town has its own General Store and you can recognize it by its bag symbol on your map. To sell to the General Store, make your way inside and speak with the Shopkeeper. When speaking with them you will have the option of selling items by pressing right on the d-pad. When you initiate selling you will be taken to your Satchel. You can select the items you wish to sell from this menu. Not all Shopkeepers buy every type of item.

Quick List (What the General Store buys):

  • Tonics.
  • Food items.
  • Cigarettes.
  • Alcohol.

Sell Your Pelts to the Trapper

The Trapper is a merchant that you can sell animal pelts to for money or special outfits (by killing Legendary Animals). You won’t be able to trade with him until you’ve killed at least one legendary animal, but once you do, he will appear in specific places across the map. The nice thing about the Trapper is that he can buy all of your animal materials, while also allowing you to buy some sweet outfits from him (since he uses the stuff you sell him for the recipes).

Quick List (What the Trapper Buys):

  • Animal Pelts.
  • Meat.
  • Feathers.
  • Antlers.
  • Claws.
  • Fat.

Donate Items to your Camp (Camp Gets Paid)

Donation box in Red Dead Redemption 2

Any items you can’t sell to the General Store or the Trapper can be donated to the camp.

Some of the items you can’t sell at the General Store can be donated at your camp. To do this, make your way to the donation box and select the give item option. With the give item option selected a list of Donations will appear. These items can be donated to the camp to increase the camps available funds. Typical items that can be donated are valuables like jewelry and other special reward items.

Quick List (What items you can Donate):

  • Jewelry like Rings, Watches, Necklaces.
  • Valuable items (Pens, Gold Bars, etc.).

Sell Stolen Goods to a Fence

If you have a bunch of stolen items you want to sell you are gonna want to take them to a Fence. A Fence can be found in Saint Denis, the large city you will visit later in the game (though you can go to him at any time prior). There is also a Fence in Rhodes you can sell stolen items to as well. If you don’t want to donate your stolen goods to the camp as mentioned above, you should take them to the Fence to earn yourself the money.
