In the Wave 1 update for Animal Crossing New Horizons the ability to dive and swim in the ocean around islands was added. With this new added game-play feature players can collect new sea creatures to donate to the museum. Alongside collecting these sea creatures there is a familiar NPC called Pascal players can trigger an event with. To help you trigger this event here’s our where to find Pascal in Animal Crossing New Horizons guide.

IMPORTANT: Pascal does not appear if you have your gates open.

Dive For a Scallop to Give to Pascal

To trigger the event with Pascal you will need to dive and find a sea creature called a scallop (we found ours on the north side of the island near the netting). When you find a scallop you will trigger an interaction with the otter named Pascal. During this sequence Pascal will ask for the scallop you just found. Give it to Pascal to get an ocean themed recipe in return.

After this first interaction you will start a relationship with Pascal which is simply finding scallops and giving them to Pascal in exchange for ocean themed recipes. These interactions occurs the same way every time, you will find the scallops needed and Pascal will appear asking you to give it to him. Each time you give the otter a scallop you will receive something in return. This can be items, recipes, or materials.

That’s all you need to know about finding Pascal in the Wave 1 update for Animal Crossing New Horizons. If you are a completionist you will want to spend a ton of time in the ocean diving for scallops so you can unlock all of the recipes and items he gives you.
