In Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon players around the world were introduced to a Pokemon that wore a Pikachu costume called Mimikyu. This Pokemon quickly became wildly popular. Its so popular it has returned in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield. If you wish to grab this odd Pokemon for yourself, you’ve come to the right place. Below I will show you where to catch Mimikyu in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield.

Where to Catch Mimikyu in Pokemon Sword and Shield?

Before getting started I need to level with you, Mimikyu is rare, likely really rare. Sites like Bulbapedia and Serebii.net clock its spawn rate in at a low 3% and that’s not even taking into account the fact it only spawns during Fog weather type in the Giant’s Mirror Wild Area. So you’re going to need a bit of a luck on hand to catch this Pokemon. With that said here are some things you can do to increase your chances of catching Mimikyu:

• Turn Nintendo Switch clock ahead to June 1, 2020 to get Fog throughout Wild Area (need to have become Champion).
• Get Catching Charm.
• Buy a ton of Ultra Balls.
• Have a Pokemon which can deliver status effects like sleep/paralyze.

Once your team is ready to go and you have an ample supply of Poke Balls, make your way to the Giant’s Mirror on a Foggy day. Here you will want to look in the tall grass for an exclamation mark. Since Mimikyu is so small it is a surprise encounter. Hopefully you run into one and can catch it right away.

Alternatively: Catch Mimikyu in Rare Raid Battle

If you can’t seem to get Mimikyu to spawn for the life of you, fear not, there is an alternative means of catching it. Mimikyu has a chance to spawn in a rare Max Raid Battle Den in Hammerlocke Hills and Rolling Fields. Again there is no guarantee Mimikyu will spawn into the raid battles, but it is worth checking them out in case it does.
