Where to Catch Ditto in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon

Ditto is an essential Pokémon for any trainer, especially if you’re into breeding, as it can breed with almost any Pokémon. Here’s a complete guide on how to find and catch Ditto in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.
Where to Find Ditto

Ditto can be found on Ula’ula Island, which you will reach after completing the Grand Trials on Melemele and Akala Islands. Once you’re on Ula’ula, make your way to the area south of the Hokulani Observatory on Route 10. Specifically, Ditto spawns in the grass just off the road heading toward Route 10. The location is shown in the image below.
Ditto is a rare spawn, so it might take a little while for it to appear. Be patient and keep walking through the tall grass. Ditto has a low encounter rate, but with persistence, you’ll find it.
Catching Ditto
Once you encounter Ditto, be prepared as it can be tricky to catch. Ditto has a catch rate of 35, which is relatively low, so you’ll need to come prepared with plenty of Poké Balls.
To make catching Ditto easier:
- Use a Pokémon with a status effect: A Pokémon that can induce sleep or paralysis will make Ditto easier to catch by reducing its ability to escape.
- Bring a Pokémon with False Swipe: False Swipe will reduce Ditto’s HP to 1 without fainting it, making it easier to capture.
- Use Ultra Balls: Due to Ditto’s low catch rate, regular Poké Balls may not be sufficient. Ultra Balls will give you a much higher chance of success.
Additional Tips
- Ditto’s Transforming Ability: When you fight Ditto, it will automatically transform into your active Pokémon. This means Ditto will use the same moves as the Pokémon in your party, which can make the fight longer. To minimize this, try to bring a Pokémon with high HP or status moves.
- Don’t forget the False Swipe strategy: Use the False Swipe strategy: If you have Pokémon with False Swipe, use this move to leave Ditto with 1 HP without fainting it, boosting your capture chances.
With Ditto added to your team, you’ll have a valuable resource for breeding and building your Pokémon collection. Whether you’re looking to breed for perfect IVs or simply want a reliable partner for your other Pokémon, Ditto is a must-have. Keep in mind that patience and the right tools, like False Swipe and status moves, will make your catching experience much smoother.
