Tera Charizard Raid Event Guide

Tera Charizard Raid Event Guide Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet.

A familiar face has arrived in Paldea. Charizard is available for players to battle in a special Tera Raid battle event. This event allows players to fight and catch this 7 Star monster. To learn more about the event here’s a quick Tera Charizard Raid event guide for Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet.

Tera Charizard Event Time and Details

The Tera Charizard event was revealed alongside the patch that released on December 1. This event, revealed online and through in-game news, occurs during two different time periods in December:

  • December 1-4 (4PM PT start & end).
  • December 15-18 (4PM PT start & end).

During these time periods you are able to find the 7 Star Charizard Raid on your map (if you’ve unlocked 6-Star Raids) or by connecting to the internet and using wither a Link Code or joining a Tera Raid battle against it.

There are a couple of details you will want to make note of before starting the raid against Charizard are:

  • Charizard is a Dragon Tera Type during this raid.
  • Charizard is Level 100.
  • You can catch the Charizard once per save, but can farm it for items.
  • Online battles are buggy right now. Charizard can regain health when it appears defeated. This can cause serious frustration.

How to Beat 7 Star Tera Charizard Raid Battle

Charizard the Unrivaled in Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet.
Charizard the Unrivaled is a tough fight!

The Charizard Tera Raid Battle is a fairly challenge fight for players to take on. This fights you against a Level 100 Charizard with a Dragon Tera Type. Due to its high Level it will easily one-shot those who are note prepared for the battle. To ensure you win you want to plan your attack accordingly.

Step 1: Get a Pokemon that can survive and deal damage during the fight. Because of Charizard’s Dragon Tera type that means you want a Pokemon that has Dragon or Fairy-type attacks. Some good ones are:

  • Azumarill.
  • Sylveon.
  • Dachsbun.
  • Grimmsnarl.

Azumarill is especially good here since it is Fairy/Water Type. Regardless of who you choose rank you Pokemon up to Level 100 and then take on the Charizard.

Step 2: Decide whether you want to face it solo or in a group. Both options have pros and cons. If you have a group of friends you can communicate with that will be your best bet (or drop your details below and see if anyone wants to group up with you).

If you go solo you benefit from being the only deaths during the raid that count towards the timer. With that said the Pokemon you are teamed up with are usually not good. This can make actually defeating the Charizard fairly hard to do alone.

Going with a group allows you to better optimize your team and communicate. This is good if you are looking to get this Raid over and done with fairly quickly. One thing to note is that the Raids are pretty bad online. There is a bug that sees Charizard regain health that is very frustrating.

Tera Charizard Raid Rewards

Rewards when you catch the 7 Star Charizard.

Once you defeat Tera Charizard you receive a few rewards. First you get the chance to catch the Charizard if you want to. Charizard, if caught, is at Level 100 and comes with the best IVs. Additionally it has the Mightiest Mark which gives it the title of Charizard the Unrivaled.

Alongside the Pokemon you also get a number of item rewards for completing the Raid battle. Many of the rewards can be farmed, so it may be worth your while to fight Charizard a lot while the event is active. Anyways, the rewards vary but they are the following:

  • TM157 Overheat – first time only.
  • Bottle Caps.
  • Ability Patches.
  • Dragon Tera Shards.
  • Calcium.
  • Star Pieces.
  • Exp. Candies L & XL.
  • Rare Candies.

I haven’t had a charazard tera raid spawn at all, even though I’ve unlocked the black crystal raids. Is tehre something I’m doing wrong?
I don’t have nintendo online so I can’t search for it online,

  2. Len says:

How do you farm it? It disappears off my map once i’ve cleared it the first time.

    • Gen says:

Online battles search them out and ya can battle more from other games. And it resets midnight so should be able to fight him again tomorrow ya time.

Like Glen said you get one spawn location per day that it is active. Once you’ve completed that location you then can farm by helping others online through the Tera Raid search system.
