Mystical Heirloom Relic Guide: God of War Ragnarok
In God of War Ragnarok, numerous secrets are hidden throughout the expansive world, including elusive bosses and unique items. One such item is the Mystical Heirloom—a relic that holds more significance than it may initially appear. In this guide, we’ll cover everything you need to know about this intriguing item.
Where to Find the Mystical Heirloom
To obtain the Mystical Heirloom, you’ll first need to acquire the Draupnir Spear. This occurs during Chapter 10, titled Forging Destiny, where you forge the spear that allows you to break through specific blocks marked with yellow symbols.
Once you have the Draupnir Spear, head to the realm of Midgard. Your destination is the southwest exterior of Tyr’s Temple. Look for a destructible block that you can detonate with your spear.
After you break the block, walk into the alcove it was blocking. Inside, you’ll find a corpse that has a Lore Scroll beside it, along with the Mystical Heirloom.
What Does the Mystical Heirloom Do?
The Mystical Heirloom may seem unassuming, but its description hints at its purpose:
- “Awakens something dormant, deep down inside of the bearer.”
- “It seems important, but doesn’t seem to have any practical application in combat.”
Essentially, this relic allows you to awaken hidden troll bosses scattered throughout the different realms. These bosses appear as statues, and you can trigger their encounters by equipping the relic and holding L1 + pressing O. Let’s take a closer look at where to find these bosses.
Troll 1: Blodugr Steinn Boss (Midgard)
One of the bosses you can awaken using the Mystical Heirloom is a troll named Blodugr Steinn, in Midgard. This troll is located in The Derelict Outpost named location.
You will find the troll statue after you’ve swung across the two gaps. It is located on your left. Approach the troll statue and trigger the Mystical Heirloom to start the boss fight.
Defeat Blodugr Steinn to receive: +40 Shattered Rune, Poison Protector Amulet Enchantment, Slumber Stones, Bonded Leather, and Hacksilver.
Troll 2: Bjarg Stormr (Alfheim)
Another troll boss is located in the Realm of Alfheim. Go to The Forbidden Sands named area and head to the northwest corner. Here you will find a ledge you can climb. Climb up the ledge to locate the troll statue. Use the Mystical Heirloom to awaken Bjarg Stormr.
Defeat Bjarg Stormr to receive the following rewards: +40 Shattered Rune, Stone Idol of Souls Amulet Enchantment, Slumber Stones, Bonded Leather, and Hacksilver.
Troll 3+4: Golrab of the Ashes and Golrab of the Frost (Vanaheim)
The last troll boss is actually a duo boss fight. The troll bosses are located in the Realm of Vanaheim. Go to the Noatun’s Garden named area.
In this area walk east towards the sealed door. Flanking the door is two troll statues. Awaken them both using the Mystical Heirloom.
Defeat Golrab of the Ashes and Golrab of the Frost to receive the following rewards: Beast Scraps, Beast Bone, +40 Shattered Rune, Momentous Stride Amulet Enchantment, Slumber Stones, Bonded Leather, and Hacksilver.
Dragon: The Everlasting (Svartahfheim)
If you’re tired of battling trolls, there’s some good news! The last secret boss you can encounter with the Mystical Heirloom is a dragon located in the realm of Svartalfheim.
To find this dragon, head to Dragon Beach. Here, you’ll discover a dragon statue waiting for you. Use the Mystical Heirloom on the statue to awaken The Everlasting.
Defeating this formidable foe will reward you with the following items: Dragon Claw, Bonded Leather, Shattered Rune, Hacksilver, and Jotunheim’s Force.

- Chest: 2x Slumber Stones

To craft the entire set, you’ll need a total of 4x Slumber Stones, all of which you can collect from the trolls you defeat. The Steinbjorn set significantly boosts your defense, with each piece providing a defensive stat increase and bonuses like Bloodthirsty Retaliation and Stunning Retaliation.
