Where to Find the Puzzle Doors Cipher (Arithmancy Study Guide Page)

Before you can start solving the Puzzle Doors littered throughout Hogwarts you will want to find the puzzle cipher. The cipher for the Door Puzzles is located in the Divination Classroom Tower. Make your way to the fast travel point there or go to the tower itself now.

Go halfway up the tower until you reach a room with rafters you can walk along. Walk into this room and follow the path until it splits. Take the right path and walk to the end. Here you will find a Door Puzzle. Opposite the Door Puzzle on a bench is a blue treasure chest. Loot the treasure chest to get the quest item called the Arithmancy Study Guide Page. This item will help you solve the Door Puzzles.

What Are the Animal’s Numbers?

The Arithmancy Study Guide Page can be found in your inventory under Quest Items. When you view this page you see a picture of an animal and a number. The list is as follows:

• Owl = 0.
• Unicorn = 1.
• Dragon = 2.
• Hydra = 3.
• Owl on branch = 4.
• Five-legged beast = 5.
• Salamander = 6.
• Tentacle Creature = 7.
• Spider = 8.
• Squid = 9.

Getting this page is a very important step in being able to solve any of the Door Puzzles you encounter in Hogwarts. The next step in the process is knowing what exactly the puzzle is asking.

How to Solve the Animal Door Puzzles

Now that we know the value of the different animal symbols, it’s time to tackle the actual puzzles themselves. When you encounter a Door Puzzle you will be presented with two triangles that have three orbs on them, and bigger orbs in the center. These three orbs contain either a number, an animal, or a ?/??. The bigger orbs in the center of the triangle feature a number.

To solve the Door Puzzles you need to input the animal symbols into the ?/?? spots that create the sum given in the big orbs in the center of the triangles. This means you will want to reference Arithmancy Study Guide Page.

Divination Classroom #1 Door Puzzle Solution

The first Door Puzzle is located in the Divination Classroom. It is opposite the blue treasure chest we got the Arithmancy Study Guide Page from. Approach the door and interact with it to reveal it’s puzzle. The solution for this door is ? = Owl on Branch (4) and ?? = Hydra (3). Input these animals and you will be able to open the door.

This doorway leads into a hallway that has a Decorated Ornamental Stands item in it. At the end of the hallway you will reach the Divination Classroom that has two more Door Puzzles to complete.

Divination Classroom #2 Door Puzzle Solution

In the classroom there are two Door Puzzles to complete. The first one we will open is on the east/southeast side of the classroom. The solution to this door is ? = Owl on Branch (4) and ?? = Five-legged creature (5). Input this code using the dials then open the door. Inside this room you will find the two chests with loot in them.

Divination Classroom #3 Door Puzzle Solution

Head to the southwest side of the room to reach the other Door Puzzle. This puzzle can be solved by inputting the following on the dials: ? = Salamander (6) and ?? = Unicorn (1). In this room you will find two chests with loot inside of them.

Ravenclaw Tower Door Puzzle Solution

You will find a Door Puzzle in the Ravenclaw Tower about halfway down it. This Door Puzzle places the dials about halfway up the wall in the room the door is in. You can still interact with them. Input the following to open the door: ? = Owl on a Branch (4) and ?? = Five-legged Beast (5). In this room you will find two chests with loot inside of them.

Reception Hall Door Puzzle Solution

This Door Puzzle is located in the Reception Hall area of the Grand Staircase. Go to the floor above the Grand Staircase fast travel point to find the door. The solution to the Reception Hall Door Puzzle is ? = Owl (0) and ?? = Five-Legged Beast (5) (a dial is down by the fast travel point). In this room you will find two chests with loot inside of them.

Grand Staircase Door Puzzle Solution

This Door Puzzle is located in the Grand Staircase. It can be found near the top of the staircase as you head to the Trophy Room. The solution to the Reception Hall Door Puzzle is ? = Salamander (6) and ?? = Tentacle Creature (7). In this room you will find two chests with loot inside of them.

Central Hall Door Puzzle Solution

In the Central Hall area you will find a Door Puzzle in the southwest corner of the room. This puzzle has a dial nearby and a dial on the ledge above the door. To solve this puzzle input the following: ? = Spider (8) and ?? = Hydra (3). In this room you will find two chests with loot inside of them.

Great Hall Door Puzzle Solution

There is a Door Puzzle you can complete in the Great Hall. This door puzzle is located in the northern corner down a little hallway. At the end of the hallway is the door. To solve this Door Puzzle turn the dials to ? = Spider (8) and ?? = Hydra (3). In this room you will find two chests with loot inside of them.

Defence Against the Dark Arts Tower Door Puzzle Solution

Just down the hallway from the Charms Classroom you will find this Door Puzzle tucked away in the corner of the common area. To solve this puzzle input the following ? = Dragon (2) and ?? = Tentacle Creature (7). In this room you will find two chests with loot inside of them.

Long Gallery Door Puzzle Solution

In The Library Annex players can enter the Long Gallery by picking a Level 1 lock. Inside this room is a Door Puzzle (and some troll statues). To solve the puzzle in the Long Gallery input the following ? = Dragon (2) and ?? = Unicorn (1). In this room you will find two chests with loot inside of them and a Field Guide Page.
