Haunted Chocolatier Announced by Stardew Valley Creator ConcernedApe

Stardew Valley is one of a few indie games that has experienced tremendous success. The game has scored legions of fans (myself included) who have put many hours into the game. Many of the game’s fans have wondered what developer ConcernedApe would follow up the title with and we now know. ConcernedApe’s Haunted Chocolatier has been announced with an early gameplay trailer.

Haunted Chocolatier Early Gameplay Trailer

News of the new title came in the form of a YouTube trailer featuring an early look at the gameplay of Haunted Chocolatier. This gameplay looks to be in the same vein as Stardew Valley, but with a bit of a twist. In the Haunted Chocolatier players take on the role of a chocolatier who runs a chocolate factory and shop while residing in a haunted castle in a strange town.

Much of the core early gameplay looks to be fairly familiar to fans of ConcernedApe’s previous work. There appears to be a good bit of resource gathering, combat, relationship management, and building up your chocolate empire. ConcernedApe mentions in the reveal blog post that this title is a chance to unleash his creativity without constraints of genre. This appears to imply new mechanics will be present when the game releases.

Speaking of releases, the game is without a release date or details regarding what platforms it will be on (for sure PC). The blog post linked above states that development is still in its early phases. ConcernedApe says there is still a “ton of stuff to do”, so don’t expect the title anytime soon.
