It has been a long time coming for Counter-Strike fans, but Valve has finally revealed Counter-Strike 2. This new game has been long in the making and features new graphics, maps, and other more modern features. Ahead of the game’s global release Valve is holding a special limited test. To learn more about the Counter-Strike 2 Limited Test, see our guide below.

How Does the Selection Work for Counter-Strike 2 Limited Test Work

I have bad news for the majority of people wanting to play the Counter-Strike 2 Limited Test. The test itself is by selection only. This means you must meet a certain criteria for Valve to select you. The company has laid out this criteria on the official FAQ page. The main factors Valve are looking at are:

  • Playtime on Valve official servers.
  • Trust factor.
  • Steam account standing.

Based on the criteria listed above, players whose Steam accounts are in bad standing or have been VAC banned from CS:GO will not be allowed to take part in the Counter-Strike 2 Limited Test. This is explicitly stated by Valve. If you are one of those players you will need to either make a new account or buy one in good standing.

If you meet the criteria Valve may select you. This will occur over time as they allow in more people to the test. If you are selected you will receive an invitation on the main menu of CS:GO that will prompt you to ENROLL. Pushing ENROLL will download the Limited Test. You can then select the option for Limited Test play when you launch CS:GO.

While the Limited Test is available players get the chance to take part in two game modes which are Deathmatch and Unranked Competitive matchmaking on Dust2. As the Limited Test continues Valve will be releasing more game modes, maps, and features.

The Limited Test will last until Summer 2023, after which the game will go full release. At that point Valve plans to have Counter-Strike 2 fully released. You can view the official Counter-Strike blog for details regarding the upcoming title.
