Steam Next Fest for October 2023 has finally arrived, bringing a diverse selection of game demos, particularly within the beloved Metroidvania genre. As an ardent Metroidvania enthusiast, I’ve been on the lookout for upcoming titles to fill the void left by completing Blasphemous 2. Among the demos I’ve explored in the genre, The Last Faith has truly stood out.

The Last Faith, crafted by Kumi Souls Games, represents an intriguing fusion of the Metroidvania and Soulslike genres, offering a dark and Gothic experience. It skillfully captures the essence of classic Castlevania titles and the atmospheric allure of FromSoftware’s Bloodborne.

An Intriguing World with Solid Combat

In The Last Faith, you take on the role of Eryk, a character grappling with amnesia. The game provides a choice between two starting classes in the demo: Brawler, emphasizing Vitality and Strength, or Stargazer, focusing on Mind, Dexterity, and Instinct.

The demo oozes with style.

Once you select your class, you gain the freedom to roam through a substantial portion of the game’s starting area, encountering numerous rooms, discovering hidden treasures, confronting formidable foes, engaging with intriguing NPCs, and experiencing an epic boss battle that enriches your gaming adventure.

Venturing through the demo provided a captivating glimpse into the game, and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. With some practice, the combat system exhibited remarkable precision and responsiveness. The game world is equally captivating, featuring a diverse cast of NPCs, each with their own enthralling storylines.

Evaluating a Metroidvania based on a limited demo can be challenging, but The Last Faith’s demo offers a promising preview. I encourage you to try it out for yourself by playing through The Last Faith demo and sharing your thoughts in the comments below.
