The hugely popular Poppy Playtime currently only has one chapter released. Due to the game’s success many players are wondering when the next instalment of the game, Chapter 2, will be released. Thankfully we finally have some more concrete details on the Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 Fly in a Web release date.

Update (May 2): After weeks of speculation there is finally a confirmed release date for Poppy Playtime Chapter 2. This confirmed date came from one of the game’s developers Adam Uhlenbrock in the game’s Discord. Players will be able to get their hands on the game’s second chapter on May 5th. The original of the story follows.

The internet has been speculating that Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 would release in March 2022. This speculation started after Mob Games released the trailer for Chapter 2 back in February. While the trailer itself doesn’t feature a release date, many people thought the chapter was close to being completed based off what was shown. They are partially right, but the timing is slightly off.

When Will Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 Release

Lead Mod Sirius details on the release date.

To learn more about the release date of the next instalment I made my way to the game’s official Discord. On the Discord there is a post from Lead Mod Sirius which gives details about Chapter 2 from one of the game’s Creative Directors, Micah Preciado. The post (shown above) lays out the projected release date for Chapter 2. It reads:

HEY BESTIES. I have some information to share. I bet you waited for some info ’cause it’s been a while since last time. Thank our one and only – Micah for the info.

Chapter 2 is close to be done. Release date is not 100% sure yet but they’re projecting about 3 weeks. 1 week to finalize PC build, and 2 more weeks after to wrap up the mobile versions. So estimated time for a release date is 3 weeks. • console ports are not being make right now. It’s planned after all chapters are done • chapter 2 is gonna have way more soundtracks than in chapter 1 (around 15) • new merch coming with the release of chapter 2 • there are gonna be toys we didn’t see yet in chapter 2 • if you liked Huggy Wuggy theme song (after you press the button) then you’re in for some treats in chapter 2 • caterpillar character we saw in the trailer will be different and more “freaky”

While the post doesn’t give an exact date, we get some details on the state of the chapter. The chapter is close to done but needs some finalisation to be released on both PC and mobile. This process will take about three weeks. If that holds that would put the release of Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 Fly in a Web at mid-to-late April.

What to Expect from Poppy Playtime Chapter 2

Chapter 2 Fly in a Web is the second chapter in Poppy Playtime. This chapter takes place directly after the events of Chapter 1. The trailer shows off new aspects of the game including a new character called Mommy Long Legs who is most likely the antagonist for the chapter. Mommy Long Legs, as the name suggests, is a large spider like doll with very long limbs. The character looks similar to the real-life toy called Betty Spaghetty from the 90’s.

Besides showing Mommy Long Legs, the trailer also shows a brief look at new gameplay including a green hand that can be used to store electrical charges. This implies there are new puzzles to solve using the new hand mechanic. There are also new locations to explore inside the Playtime Co. factory. Players can also expect more answers to the game’s many mysteries, including what exactly Poppy wants from the player.

April 7: MOB Games has released a new trailer showing off more details on the Mommy Long Legs toy. This trailer comes in the form of a toy commercial featuring a look a the Mommy Long Legs toy. As usual, things are not as they appear.
