Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Grounblight Shrine Guide

Once you complete the main storyline in Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet you unlock endgame content. This content features a number of additional quests you can complete. One quest you can receive is from the History teacher Raifort. If you speak to Raifort in the Entrance Hall of the Naranja/Uva Academy she tells you about Shrines. Following this interaction the four Shrines are marked on your map. Here’s a quick Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Groundblight Shrine guide to help you open one of them.

Where is the Groundblight Shrine?

The Groundblight Shrine is one of four Shrines players can open in the endgame of Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet. This Shrine is located in the north/northwest tip of Paldea on at the bottom of a cliffside. It’s entrance is marked on your map with the symbol shown on the screenshot above. When you visit this location you find a locked Green Gate. To open this gate you need to find 8 Ominous Green Stakes throughout the surrounding area and destroy them.

Where to Find All 8 Ominous Green Stakes to Open the Groundblight Shrine?

History teacher Raifort explains to you how the stake system works. To open a Shrine you need to find and destroy all 8 of the stakes in that area. To open the Groundblight Shrine you need to find all 8 Ominous Green Stakes and destroy them. The locations below are where you will find them all.

Ominous Green Stake 1

Head west from the Groundblight Shrine entrance until you reach the shoreline. Here you will find some rocks you can climb up. On top of these rocks is the Ominous Green Stake. Destroy it.

Ominous Green Stake 2

Head directly east from the Groundblight Shrine entrance. Eventually you will reach the Glaseado Mountain. On the northside facing the North Paldean Sea you will find the Ominious Green Stake embedded in the snowy mountain. Climb up to it and destroy it.

Ominous Green Stake 3

This Ominious Green Stake is located on the Casseroya Lake Islet in the middle of the lake. Go to the east end of the islet to find the stake. Climb up and destroy it.

Ominous Green Stake 4

South of the Casseroya Lake Islet you will find so another set of smaller islets. Go to the north one. On this north one you will find the Ominious Green Stake. Climb up and destroy it.

Ominous Green Stake 5

This Ominous Green Stake is located on a southwest shoreline of the Casseroya Lake. There is a small rock ledge you can climb up where the map marker is shown in the screenshot above. Here you will find the stake. Destroy it.

Ominous Green Stake 6

This Ominous Green Stake is located inside the Colonnade Hollow sight in West Province (Area Two). Go into the tunnel and look for the stake on top of a pillar inside. Climb up and destroy it.

Ominous Green Stake 7

Head to the northwest from Green Stake 6 to reach a river. Here you will find a little waterfall. On the south bank of the river is the Ominous Green Stake. Destroy it.

Ominous Green Stake 8

Follow the river east until you reach the edge of the Glaseado Mountain. Here you will find a waterfall. Climb up the rocks beside the waterfall until you reach a ledge that has the Ominous Green Stake on it. Destroy the stake.

How to Catch Ting-Lu

Once you’ve destroyed all 8 of the Ominous Green Stakes list above you will see a short cutscene. During this cutscene you hear the cry of the legendary Ting-Lu coming from the now-open shrine. Before going back there do a little prep to make catching easier:

  • Buy battle/catching supplies like Ultra Balls.
  • Bring a Pokemon that can inflict status effects.
  • Bring a Pokemon that has False Swipe.
  • Try and have a party of +60 level.
  • Make a save.

After your battle prep is complete, go back to the Groundblight Shrine door. Approach the door and you will be prompted to interact with it. Select Yes to start the battle. Catch Ting-Lu easily using a combination of False Swipe, a status effect like sleep, and Ultra Balls.

Ting-Lu is a Dark/Ground Legendary Pokemon. It is one of four Legendries you can catch by opening the four shrines. See the other shrine guides for help with those Pokemon.
