In the new 1.4 update of Stardew Valley ConcernedApe added new Heart Events to unlock with your spouses. These Heart Events take place at 14 Hearts. To help you unlock each new Heart Event I am writing a guide for each spouse. The guide below shows you how to unlock the Sam 14 Heart Event in Stardew Valley.

How to Reach 14-Hearts with Sam?

To unlock the new event you first need to reach 14 hearts with Sam. You should already be around 10 since you’ve married him. To quickly raise the hearts with Sam you will want to give him the any of the following favorite items until you reach 14 Hearts:

  • Cactus Fruit.
  • Maple Bar.
  • Pizza.
  • Tigerseye.

Once you’ve reached 14 Hearts with Sam you need to trigger the next portion of the Heart Event. To trigger the first part of the event simply leave your house then enter it (like at 6:10 AM for example). Upon entering a cutscene will trigger.

Sam Wants to Get into the Music Industry

When you enter your house you will appear in Sam’s music room. In the room Sam speaks to you about felling like he’s become lazy. He wants to get a job in the music industry. At the end of the cutscene he says he will let you know how it goes. Pass the time to trigger the next cutscene.

Sam Gets Composer Gig with Zuzu Broadcasting Group

Like the previous sequence simply exit then re-enter you house in the morning. This will trigger another cutscene. During this cutscene Sam receives a message saying he got the job as a Junior Composer at the Zuzu Broadcasting Group, TV division. Further into the letter Sam learns the show is for little kids. He becomes depressed. You can respond with a few remarks:

  • Just think of it as a stepping stone in your career…
  • Just think of how happy you’ll make the children.
  • I’m sorry…

Choose whichever reply you want to advance the cutscene. Sam will then say he needs to start thinking like a kid to which you can respond with:

  • That should be easy for you…
  • You could ask your little brother for help.

Once you give a response this cutscene ends. If you talk to Sam afterwards he will mention needing to work on it for a few days. Pass the time to reach the next portion of this heart event.

Sam Plays You His Rough Song

Repeat the same process you’ve used to trigger the past two sequences of the Heart Event. Exit then re-enter your house at 6:10 AM to trigger another cutscene. Sam has put together a song. He will play it for you. After Sam plays it he tells you he is actually happy he got the job. If you speak to Sam in your house he mentions the song will be finished in a few days. Advance time to reach the final portion of this heart event.

You and Some Kids Watch the TV Show

Same process here again. Simply advance a few days then enter the house in the morning to trigger this final cutsceme. In the final cutscene you, Jas and Vincent all watch the show with Sam’s music in the background. Vincent and Jas both start dancing to the tunes. They both love the music. Sam then thanks you for your support through the journey. As a reward you get Sam’s Boombox with the song Sam wrote on it. This item can be used whenever you want.

This ends the Sam 14-Heart Event. What did you think of this Heart Event? Did you like it? Love it? Hate it? Let me know in the comments below.
