How to Unlock the EARLy Achievement in Captain Wayne – Vacation Desperation

Captain Wayne – Vacation Desperation, the run-and-gun boomer shooter packed with neon chaos and chunky firepower, comes with a handful of quirky achievements to chase. One of the trickiest is EARLy, which requires you to defeat EARL without ever stepping onto the dance floor. If you’re looking to unlock this achievement without breaking a sweat (or a groove), this guide will walk you through everything you need to know.

Step 1: Play Area 04 – Beached Beluga Blues

To begin the EARLy achievement, head to Area 04 – Beached Beluga Blues. You can take this on during your normal campaign run, or jump directly to it from Game Select > Campaign > Areas if you’ve already cleared the stage.

Step 2: Reach EARL on the Dance Floor But Don’t Step On It

As you progress through the stage, focus on conserving as much Chaingun ammo as possible. Avoid using it while moving through the level and rely on your other weapons instead.

Keep advancing until you reach the Dance Hall. Once you’re there, create a manual save by pressing Start > Save Voyage at the position shown in the screenshot above.

Step 3: Defeat EARL Without Going on the Dance Floor

The final step is to defeat EARL without ever stepping onto the dance floor. Position yourself in the hallway and use your Chaingun to whittle down his health. When he starts his attack barrage, step back down the stairs to stay out of danger, then move forward again once the shots stop.

EARL may push toward you or you might start to run low on ammo—just keep your focus on dealing damage whenever it’s safe. If things go wrong or you accidentally touch the dance floor, simply reload the save you created earlier and try again.

Repeat the shoot-retreat-return pattern until EARL goes down and the EARLy achievement unlocks.
