The Nail is your primary method of attacking in Hollow Knight. Like other adventure games, Hollow Knight’s Nail starts in basic form, but can be upgraded to deal more damage. To upgrade the Nail, you need to visit the Nailsmith in The City of Tears. Upgrading cost a combination of Pale Ore and Geo.

Nail

Sharpened Nail = 250 Geo to upgrade.

Channelled Nail = 800 Geo + 1 Pale Ore.

Coiled Nail = 2000 Geo + 2 Pale Ore.

Pure Nail = 4000 Geo + 3 Pale Ore

 

Pale Ore

1. Rescue 31 Grubs to receive a Pale Ore from Grubfather.

2. Collect 300 Essence to receive a Pale Ore from Seer.

3. Complete Trial of the Conqueror in Colosseum of Fools.

4. Found in Hallownest’s Crown at the top of Crystal Peak.

5. Defeat Nosk in Deepnest. Accessed by breaking wall in room to the left of the Hot Spring.

6. Look for Two Lesser Mawleks guarding a Pale Ore to the left of the tram station in Ancient Basin.

 

Lumafly Lantern = 1800 Geo from Sly in Dirtmouth
