Currents Deep Beneath the Lanterns Guide – Genshin Impact

During the Lantern Rite in Genshin Impact there are a number of quests for players to complete. One of the main quests is called Currents Deep Beneath the Lanterns. Currents Deep Beneath the Lanterns Walkthrough

The Currents Deep Beneath the Lanterns quest is part of the Lantern Rite event running in Genshin Impact. This event takes place in the Liyue Harbor area. Make your way to the Xiao Market and speak to the event organizer, Wang’ya, to learn more about what this quest entails. This first interaction will begin the quest by unlocking the first step below.

Obtain Vermillionite from the Ruin Hunter

After you speak to Wang’ya you will receive your first quest step. This step tasks you with collecting Vermillionite which drops off of Ruin Hunters. When this step is active your map will be marked with a few locations of Ruin Hunters. Go to these locations and defeat the Ruin Hunters there. Note you only have to defeat one Ruin Hunter to receive the required material.

Obtain Azurite from Bloatty Floatties

Once you obtain some Vermillionite you will trigger the next quest step which is to acquire Azurite. This material can be obtained by completing a Bloatty Floaties plant puzzle. Your map will be marked with the locations of one of these plants. Go there and complete the puzzle by shooting the three Bloatty Floaties that float around when you interact with the plant. Once the floaties are destroyed dig up the plant to receive the Azurite material.

Report back to Wang’ya

After you’ve gathered the Azurite you will need to report back to Wang’ya. Head back to the Liyue Harbor and speak to her. During this interaction Changchang will appear. Changchang needs a Xiao Lantern. This will trigger a new quest step.

Go to the Construction Site and Collect Materials

From Wang’ya head southeast through the market then head northeast to reach the construction site area. In this area walk to the glowing quest marker to trigger the next step.

Talk to the Suspicious Person and Investigate Around the Stockpile

In the construction site head over to the NPC named ???. Speak to this NPC to trigger an interaction with him. This interaction will trigger a new objective to Investigate around the stockpile. The three things you need to interact with to complete this step are:

  1. Construction supplies crate.
  2. Highly flammable materials crate.
  3. Ore crate.

When you interact with the third and final crate you will trigger an interaction with Paimon. After this interaction you will get a new quest step.

Retrieve the Xiao Lantern Materials

To complete this step you need to grab some of the ore off the crate in the center of the dock. Walk up to the crate and take some ore to complete this objective.

Talk to Wang’ya

After you’ve gathered the resources needed for the Xiao Lantern head back to Wang’ya. Speak to her about the suspicious person to trigger the next step.

Go to the Ministry of Civil Affairs and Report to the Millelith

Leave the market and head up the stairs to reach the Ministry of Civil Affairs. Speak to Jiayi next to the statue to report the suspicious person.

Find the Millelith

After you make the report you need to find the Millelith. This character is located slightly northeast of the Statue of The Seven – Geo near Luhua Pool. Fast travel to this statue then head quest marker. When you reach the marker you will need to defeat the Hilichurls and destroy the two roadblocks there. Once you do this the Millelith, Xinghou will interact with you.

Go Back to the Crime Scene

Once you’ve spoken to Xinghou return to Liyue Harbor and revisit the construction site. When you approach the site you will trigger a custscene. During this cutscene you will see the mysterious person and Xaio. Once the cutscene is over make your way to Xiao and speak to him.

Talk to Kaeya

Upon speaking to Xiao you will need to head to Mondstadt to speak to Kaeya. Fast travel to this location and head to Kaeya who is standing next to the fountain. Talk to Kaeya about what is happening. Kaeya will mention meeting up with an informant.

Talk to the Informant

Fast travel to the Statue of The Seven in Windrise then head to the informant’s location nearby. At the campsite you will meet Nimrod. Speak to Nimrod and tell him the secret phrase “Wine Begets…” This will trigger the interaction and you will learn about Treasure Hoarders that are active during the Lantern Rite.

Find the Treasure Hoarder’s Camp

With the information from the informant gave us we can hunt down the Treasure Hoarder’s Camp. This camp is located in the Lisha area of Liyue. Head there now. At the quest location look for two Treasure Hoarders standing together in a camp. Approach the pair and speak to the one named Bei’er. This will trigger an interaction. After the interaction you will take control of Xiao. Defeat the enemies and another interaction will trigger. You will receive a letter during this interaction that features a special meeting spot location.

Meet the Sender at the Meeting Spot

Head to the west of the Treasure Hoarder’s Camp to reach the meeting spot. At this location approach the tree to speak to the suspicious person. After briefly speaking to suspicious person you will need to defeat them in a fight. Do this to trigger a second interaction.

Report Back to Jiayi

Head back to Liyue Harbor and report to Jiayi. This will end the mission. For completing this mission you will receive Primogems, Festive Fever, Mora, and XP items.
