The internet’s worst kept secret, Counter-Strike 2, has officially been reveled by Valve. This project has long been said to be coming, with rumors of the soon-to-be revealed title beginning in February, and later spreading into March. Valve has revealed the game and some of the details behind what makes the sequel special. They also announced that there will be a Limited Test players can take part in before the game releases in Summer 2023.

Valve Reveals Counter-Strike 2, Gives Details on Limited Test

The reveal came in the form of a tweet on the official CS:GO Twitter account. This reveal showed a video featured gameplay mixed with developer feedback. Some highlights in the video include better graphics, responsive smokes, more detailed environments, and a release date of Summer 2023.

Alongside the video an official Counter-Strike 2 page appeared on the game’s website. This page revealed the Limited Test that is occurring now for fans of Counter-Strike. This Limited Test will select randomly from players in good standing to take part.

Counter-Strike 2 promises to deliver a fully rebuild of Counter-Strike. This means there is a full overhaul and upgrade of previous maps. The developers are also changing how the tick system works by introducing a sub-tick update architecture. This architecture means movement should be more fluid and precise. There is also a key-bind to remove the silencer from your weapon(s). They also revealed the fate of player’s items collections.

Players can take part in the Limited Test now or wait for the game’s full release in Summer 2023. CS2 will be available for PC on the Valve owned Steam platform.
