Xbox to Make Major Announcements at The Game Awards

With only a few days to go until Geoff Keighley’s The Game Awards show, we are getting a better idea of what to expect. One of the more surprising reveals has been Microsoft’s involvement in the show. Ahead of the event the company has been sending out promotional emails to Xbox users stating there will be ‘major announcements’ coming during The Game Awards on December 7th.

The message people have been receiving from Xbox hints at very little but gives a few details about the event:

Celebrate the year’s best games and the big winners live at The Game Awards on December 7 at 4:30 PM PT along with major announcements and more Xbox news you won’t want to miss!

Microsoft choosing to get involved again with the awards show makes perfect sense. The event is arguably one of the biggest (if not the biggest) for showcasing major upcoming titles. Previous years have seen the likes of Elden Ring, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and Death Stranding revealed.

Xbox is currently sitting on a number of potential new releases and DLCs, but there has been little to nothing shown about them. The biggest, and most likely reveal, is Fable. We’ve seen a first look trailer, but revealing a release date or gameplay could be a major showing at the event.

A less probable game reveal might involve a first look at a new installment in the Gears of War series. This appears unlikely, however, given the relatively subdued discussion surrounding the series since the release of Gears of War 5.

In the realm of DLC, an eagerly anticipated moment could be the unveiling of a significant trailer for Starfield’s upcoming expansion, titled Shattered Space. This would be the first major DLC content for the game.
