The Witcher 3 Grandmaster Griffin Set

The Witcher 3 DLC Blood and Wine added a whole new tier of armor to the game, Grandmaster. There now are a total of 5 Armor Sets which can be upgraded to ‘Grandmaster’ status. In order to have upgrade these armors to Grandmaster, players need to meet the Grandmaster Armorer in Beauclair, the capitol of Toussaint. Meeting him triggers your quests to find the diagrams needed to make Grandmaster equipment. The following is a walkthrough showing how to get the Grandmaster Griffin Armor.

Where to find the Grandmaster Griffin Armor, Silver Sword & Gauntlets Schematics

The first three Grandmaster Griffin diagrams are located in the Eastern portion of the map, in a place called Fort Ussar. When you arrive at the ruins, you will notice there are some Slyzards about. You have a few ways of doing this, fight them then enter the ruins or come in from the east to avoid them all together. Regardless of your approach, the schematics are located under the stairs inside the ruins.

Where to find the Grandmaster Griffin Silver Sword, Armor & Trousers Schematics

After looting the trio of schematics, you will also receive Captain Augustus Fierabras’ report. Basically it tells you to go north-west to a location called Mont Crane Castle. Important note, this place is a bandit camp, so it is crawling with enemies. What you want to do is inter the castle courtyard, fight the enemies within and instead of going up the stairs, look for an illusionary wall on the courtyard level.

Once revealed, you will find yourself in a lower area of the castle. In the lower area of the castle activate the portal by picking up the crystal off the table and activating a hidden switch in the bookshelf. When the hidden bookshelf switch is activated, a dozen bandits will be alerted, so prepare to fight. Once the bandits are dealt with, go through the now active portal.

Through the portal you will face a Golem, defeat it. After defeating the Golem head deeper into the area and look for three sacks. Each sack contains a schematic for Grandmaster Griffin gear.

Grandmaster Griffin Set Crafting Recipes

Once you’ve acquired the different pieces schematics and returned to the Grandmaster Armorer you will need to proved different materials to build the different pieces of the set. What are the Grandmaster Griffin Set Bonuses?

The Grandmaster Griffin armor is in the Medium Armor class and increases your Sign intensity as well as providing protection from all types of damage. The set features special bonuses for wearing 3&6 pieces of the set. Details of the bonuses are located below.

3 pieces bonus: 

“After using Stamina to cast a Sign in its standard mode, the next Sign cast within 3 seconds will be cast in standard mode without using Stamina.”

6 pieces bonus:

“The size of Yrden traps is increased by 40%. While you are within a Yrden trap stamina regeneration is increased by 5/s and sign intensity by 100%, and damage is reduced by 20%.”

What are the Grandmaster Griffin Console Commands

Those of you who have no interest in actually getting the armor legitimately, can use good old console commands. Now accessing console commands is not in the vanilla version, but mods are available. Input these to grab the armor + weapons if you are lazy.
