What to Do With Cutting Powder in The Cayo Perico Heist
To get GTA Online‘s The Cayo Perico Heist to workout in your favor you will need to spend your time collecting heist intel on the island. While you are collecting intel you may stumble upon an item called Cutting Powder. This item allows you to poison the guards, making them less perceptive during the heist itself. Where to Find the Cutting Powder
The Cutting Powder is much like the other Points of Interest on the island. The exact location of it changes each time you load up the island to do recon. With that said it appears as though Cutting Powder can be typically found in the cocaine shacks around the island. The box itself will glow when you get near it, signifying it can be picked up. When you do pick it up you Pavel will talk to you about putting this substance in the island’s water supply.
How to Contaminate the Island’s Water Supply
Once you have the Cutting Powder in your possession it’s time to use it. To contaminate the island’s water supply make your way to any of the island’s three water towers (round buildings on your map). Climb up the water tower so you reach the top. When you are on the top of the tower head to the hatch in the center of it. When you approach the hatch you will be prompted to interact. Do this to dump the Cutting Powder into the water tower.
After you’ve contaminated the water supply all that is left is to run the heist. When you run the heist you may notice the guards are slower to react to you when you appear in front of them. This is the outcome of poisoning the water supply. Pavel will tell you this while you are on the heist.

Yeah, I agree. I’ve been playing for over 6 months and I still haven’t done my own heist. I’ve been too busy learning from other people’s;and since it’s so “all over the freaking place” it’s made it a bit confusing.. but no less fun I guess. Keeps it interesting. Just another example of how much time and thought went into this game. I can’t wait for GTA 6. You guys seen the preview?
One complaint I have about the new heist is it’s not very clear as to when you’re supposed to do certain things. For example I assumed the cutting powder was to be put into the water supply during the heist itself, but as I used the drainage tunnel option that took me right into the compound, I could find no opportunity to use it. Apparently it’s supposed to be used during the intel gathering mission then? Wish I’d known before I got myself killed within the first 5 minutes of the finale.
