PS5 Twitter Integration To End November 13

PlayStation Twitter support ending notification.

Sony recently declared that PS5 Twitter support, now referred to as X, will be discontinued on November 13th. Consequently, players will lose the ability to access or send notifications via the popular social media platform. This move aligns with Microsoft’s prior decision to terminate Twitter support on their Xbox consoles.

Update: X has reached out to PlayStation regarding new integration, including livestreaming.

They notified users about the change through a PlayStation 5 notification. This notification reads:

“As of November 13, 2023, integration with X (formerly known as Twitter) will no longer function on Station 5 and PlayStation 4 consoles. This includes the ability to view any content published on X on PS5/PS4, and the ability to post and view content, trophies, and other gameplay related activities on X directly from PS5/PS4 (or link an X account to do so).

For those who may not be familiar, the PlayStation Twitter/X support enables players to view and share content from directly on their PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles. Players who used this feature could directly post from their console, making it easy to share achievements like trophy unlocks, game clips, and in-game screenshots. These features will no longer be on the console on November 13.

Recent increases to the X/Twitter API pricing structure have raised content posting expenses for large companies. This increase in cost may have influenced PlayStation’s decision to axe the feature. Additionally, PlayStation likely observed Xbox discontinuing the service and saw it also as a prudent cost-cutting measure.
