Passing of the Age Quest Guide – Hollow Knight: Silksong
Mister Mushroom returns in Hollow Knight: Silksong! Just like in the first game, this odd NPC is tied to a hidden quest that unlocks a secret ending. In Silksong, his quest is called Passing of the Age. Completing it lets you see a bonus cutscene and earn the Passing of the Age achievement/trophy.

Requirements Before You Start
Before you begin, make sure you have:
- Silk Soar ability unlocked (you’ll need it to reach the Wish inscription stone).
- This means you must have reached Act 3 and explored the Abyss.
Where to Start the Passing of the Age Wish
You’ll begin this quest by finding the Wish inscription stone in the Pale Lake area.
How to get there:
- Go to the Putrified Ducts from either the Memorium or Bilehaven.
- Head east from the Putrified Ducts to the Pale Lake area.
- In the Pale Lake, use Silk Soar to jump up through the hole in the top-right corner of the big room.
- Interact with the inscription stone there to begin the Wish and get the riddle.
Passing of the Age Riddle Solutions
The inscription stone gives you a riddle with seven lines. Each line points to a location where Mister Mushroom will appear.

What to Do After Finding Mister Mushroom All Seven Times
Finding Mister Mushroom at all seven locations won’t immediately unlock the achievement or trophy. To trigger it, you need to finish the game.
This means continuing the main questline, which eventually takes you into the Abyss for a final battle against Lace. After defeating Lace, you’ll see the true ending cutscene.
During this sequence, a secret Mister Mushroom cutscene will play, and once it finishes, the Passing of the Age achievement/trophy will unlock.
