With the 1.4 update of Stardew Valley, ConcernedApe introduced exciting new Heart Events for spouses, including Maru. These events become available once you reach 14 Hearts with your spouse. This guide will show you unlock and how to unlock the Maru 14 Heart Event in Stardew Valley
How to Reach 14 Hearts with Maru
To unlock Maru’s 14 Heart Event, you’ll need to build your relationship with her up to 14 hearts. Starting from 0 hearts, you’ll first need to develop a friendship by giving her gifts she loves and interacting with her daily. Once your relationship reaches 10 hearts, you can propose to her using a Mermaid’s Pendant.
After marriage, you should be at 10 hearts. From there, continue to nurture your relationship by giving her favorite gifts to increase your hearts to the maximum of 14.
Maru’s Favorite Gifts
To increase your relationship with Maru quickly you can focus on giving her any of the following items that she loves:
- Battery Pack
- Cauliflower
- Cheese
- Cauliflower
- Diamond
- Gold Bar
- Iridium Bar
- Miner’s Treat
- Pepper Poppers
- Rhubarb Pie
- Strawberry
Regularly gifting these items will help you reach 14 hearts with Maru. Once you’ve maxed out your relationship, Maru will acknowledge your bond with a special dialogue:
“Thanks for always being so thoughtful. I’m looking forward to our future together!” – Maru
How to Do Maru’s 14 Heart Event
Once you’ve reached 14 Hearts with Maru, you can trigger her Heart Event by entering your farmhouse after 6:10 AM, when Maru is at home (which is nearly every day).
This will start a cutscene where Maru talks about an upcoming astronomical event and invites you to watch it with her. The event is set for the next evening, weather permitting; if it’s rainy, the event will be rescheduled for the following night. You will automatically agree to the invitation.
Meet Maru To Watch the Astronomical Event
On the next clear day make your way to the Carpenter’s Shop in The Mountains between 10:00pm and 1:00am. When you enter this area you will trigger the cutscene with Maru.
During the cutscene Maru reflects on how your relationship has evolved and expresses her feelings. After the comet passes, Maru will ask you to make a wish. You can choose from (has no effect on relationship):
- A new baby
- For us to grow old together
- More money
After making your wish, Maru will hug you, concluding the event. This event highlights how far you and Maru’s relationship has come.
