Arthur will clean the gun until it is back in perfect condition.

As you are out and about in the world of Red Dead Redemption 2, you’ve probably come across weapons that are in bad condition. In their bad condition the weapon itself will perform less effectively, making more of a liability to use. Thankfully there is a way to remedy this. Below I will show you how to repair weapons in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Option 1: Clean Your Weapon Using Gun Oil

The first option for cleaning your weapon, is to buy Gun Oil and clean it yourself. This method involves getting Gun Oil from a Gunsmith, and then applying to your poor condition weapon. To apply the Gun Oil to your weapon follow these steps:

  1. Open Weapon Wheel.
  2. Hover over gun you want to clean and press R3 (Right Stick).
  3. Press the Clean button on the next screen. This will cost you 1 Gun Oil.

After you finish cleaning your gun, the condition of it will turn to perfect condition. In this state you will get the best stats out of the weapon as possible.

Option 2: Have the Gunsmith Repair Your Weapon

The second method of repairing your weapon is to have the Gunsmith do it for you. This can be done by going into a Gunsmith, focusing on them, selecting customize, and then choosing the weapon you want cleaned. When you select the weapon you want to customize (clean), you will be given a few options including Clean Weapon. Paying the Gunsmith will “restore this weapon to perfect condition.” This method is fairly cheap and easy to do when you roll into a town.

Quick Guide:

  • Go to Gunsmith.
  • Select Customize.
  • Choose gun you want cleaned.
  • Pay to have Gunsmith Clean Weapon.
