How to Increase Satchel Capacity in Red Dead Redemption 2

The camp in Red Dead Redemption 2 is home to a number of different benefits you can utilize during your playthrough of the story. One of these benefits is satchel upgrades. Below I will show you how to increase satchel capacity in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Complete Chapter 1

To start you need to complete Chapter 1.

Before doing anything, you need to complete Chapter 1. This is done by completing the mission Eastward Bound, which sees the gang come down from the mountains to Horshoe Overlook. Once you’ve completed this mission you will start Chapter 2 and gain access to the open world.

Speak with Pearson in Camp

When you’re ready, you can speak with Pearsons in camp to craft upgrades. To upgrade your Satchels you will need to collect a number of different animal skins from him. To know what you need to collect, I’ve highlighted each recipe below:

Tonics Satchel

Upgrading the Tonic Satchel increases the carrying capacity of all types of tonics.

• 1x Perfect Deer Pelt.
• 1x Perfect Buck Pelt.
• 1x Perfect Elk Pelt.

Ingredients Satchel

Upgrading the Ingredients Satchel increases the carrying capacity of all types of edible Ingredients.

• Must donate 5 animal carcasses to Pearson to unlock (must be done).
• 1x Perfect Deer Pelt.
• 1x Perfect Elk Pelt.
• 1x Perfect Panther Pelt.

Kit Satchel

Upgrading the Kit Satchel increases the carrying capacity of all types of Kit equipment.

• 1x Perfect Deer Pelt.
• 1x Perfect Elk Pelt.
• 1x Perfect Panther Pelt.

Provisions Satchel

Upgrading the Provisions Satchel increases the carrying capacity of all types of Provisions.

• 1x Perfect Deer Pelt.
• 1x Perfect Bison Pelt.
• 1x Perfect Raccoon Pelt.

Materials Satchel

Upgrading the Materials Satchel increases the carrying capacity of all types of inedible materials.

• Need to craft 3 recipes at the scout fire to unlock.

Valuables Satchel

Upgrading the Valuables Satchel increases the carrying capacity of all types of valuables you can sell.

• 1x Perfect Deer Pelt.
• 1x Perfect Beaver Pelt.
• 1x Perfect Rabbit Pelt.

Legend of the East Satchel

Crafting the Legend of the East Satchel greatly expands the carrying capacity for all item types (best Satchel you can make).

• Craft all other Satchels to unlock.
