In celebration of the Pokemon Journey’s anime, there is a special running in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield for players to get a few of Ash’s partner Pokemon in-game. These Pokemon are unique to the game and feature special moves you normally wouldn’t find. The second of Ash’s Pokemon players can get is Ash’s Gengar. Ash’s Gengar Code for Pokemon Sword & Shield

To get this partner in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield players need to input a specific Mystery Gift code. The Ash’s Gengar code is GENNGER0GE94. To input the code in-game do the following:

  1. Connect to the internet (if needed).
  2. Start playing Pokemon Sword or Pokemon Shield.
  3. Go to Mystery Gift.
  4. Select Get a Mystery Gift.
  5. Select with Code/Password.
  6. Input code GENNGER0GE94.
  7. Watch as your Pokemon arrives in-game.
  8. Enjoy!

If you follow the steps above you will receive your new Gengar. Keep in mind that this does require being connected to the internet to receive your Mystery Gift, so ensure you’ve done that step. Also keep in mind that Ash’s Gengar is available to claim until September 15th.

What Makes Ash’s Gengar Special?

Gengar’s can be caught in the Galar Region Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield, but Ash’s Gengar is a bit unique. This Mystery Gift Pokemon arrives at level 80. Alongside being high-level, Ash’s Gengar comes knowing moves from the anime. This means it knows Shadow Ball, Sludge Bomb, Dazzling Gleam, and Will-O-Wisp.

So far there have been two Mystery Gift codes for Ash’s partner Pokemon: Ash’s Dragonite and Ash’s Gengar. There are two more code distributions planned, so be sure to check back for those when they arrive.
