Great Colored Carp Guide: How to Find the Great Colored Carp in Sekiro Shadows Die Twice
In Sekiro Shadows Die Twice the player is able to swim. This ability allows for underwater combat and is a major departure from older FromSoftware games. While exploring the underwater, you will come across Colored Carp. There is one large carp you can find. This guide will show you how to find the Great Colored Carp in Sekiro Shadows Die Twice.
Note: Completing this quest line earns you the Great Colored Carp trophy/achievement.
Optional: Speak with NPC Near the Great Sakura Idol in Fountainhead Palace
To start you are going to want to make your way through most of the game until you reach Fountainhead Palace. This palace sits on a large body of water which is home to the Great Colored Carp. Once you reach the Great Sakura idol, run and jump into the lake. To the left there is a half-sunk house with an NPC on it. Speak to the NPC to learn more about the Great Colored Carp.
Note: If you open the Palace Gates for her, there is a brief resolution to her story. Open the gates and rest at the idol then head back inside the Palace to see her killing the enemies in the Palace. She will then die.
Reach the Feeding Grounds
After you’ve spoken to the NPC, make your way to the Feeding Grounds. To do this stay in the lake and make your way to behind the building with the NPC on it and look for a cave in the left corner. Go through the cave, avoiding the Great Colored Carp as it charges.
Once you’ve gone through the sunken building at the end, hookshot out of the water and make your way up to the Palace Grounds Sculptor’s Idol.
Go through the Palace and make your way out the far door. Once out the far door turn right and look up at the roof of the palace. You can hookshot to it. Do this so you are on the roof. Run along the roof and look for a tree you can hookshot to on your left side. Do this then hookshot to the roof below. On the roof, hookshot to the next building then drop down onto the raised platform area. Drop down again to reach the Feeding Grounds idol.
Speak to the Pot Bois Harunga & Koremori
Now that we have the Feeding Grounds idol unlocked, it’s time for us to acquire some bait. To do this we need to speak to a Pot Nobles NPC. There are two Pot Nobles NPCs:
Click the links above if you need more exact locations. Basically all you are doing with these NPCs is spending scales until you can speak with them. Once you’ve spent enough, you will get Truly Precious Bait from both.
Feed the Great Colored Carp Truly Precious Bait
Once you have the bait, return to the Feeding Grounds idol and you will see a bell. Ring the bell to have the Great Colored Carp appear. You will be given the option to feed the carp some bait. Here’s what happens for both:
- Harunga Truly Precious Bait: If you use the Harunga Truly Precious Bait, Koremori will die and Harunga will inherit his inventory. Harunga will turn into a red eyed carp by his pot. Interact with his pot to get a Lapis Lazuli.
- Koremori Truly Precious Bait: If you use the Koremori Truly Precious Bait, Harunga will die and Koremori will inherit his inventory. Koremori becomes a red eyed carp in the water at the base of the cliff beneath his pot. Interact with his pot to get a Lapis Lazuli.
Once you’ve fed the bait you need to complete one more step.
Go to Guardian Ape’s Watering Hole
For the final step, make your way to the Guardian Ape’s Watering Hole idol. In the middle of this area you will see a very dead Great Colored Carp. In front of the carp’s face is an item. Pick up the item to get the Great White Whisker.
What to Do with The Great White Whisker?
The Great White Whisker can be given to the NPC in the Feeding Grounds. He will give you a Divine Grass. Rest at the idol and the NPC will die. Speak to his daughter then loot his corpse to get 4x Treasure Carp Scale.
