There is a new exotic weapon for players to acquire in Destiny 2. This new exotic comes form the Spider on the Tangled Shore. This new exotic mission contains a number of steps players must complete to get the Hawkmoon. The quest to start this sequence is called A Cry from Beyond (very easy to complete). Once this step is completed you will unlock the exotic quest called As the Crow Flies. To help you complete this exotic quest use our Hawkmoon exotic guide below.

Complete A Cry From Beyond Mission

To start this new exotic quest mission make your way to the Tangled Shore and visit the Spider. Speak to the NPC to complete the first mission called A Cry From Beyond. After this easy mission is complete select the As the Crow Flies exotic quest from the Spider to begin the first 6 steps of this exotic quest.

Complete As The Crow Flies

The As the Crow Flies quest tasks you with finding a total of five hidden feathers across the different planets of Destiny 2 and then return them to the Spider. These feathers must be found before you can continue this exotic quest-line so use the photos and descriptions below to find them all relatively easily.

Feather Outside Spider’s Lair

The first feather you need to find can be found just outside of the Spider’s lair. Make your way back to the very entrance so you are outside the tunnels that lead to the Spider’s lair. Where you turn to the right you to enter the tunnels you will find the feather on top of a console.

Feather on EDZ Overlooking Hallowed Grove LS

The second feather can be found on the EDZ. Head to the The Sludge landing zone and go to the west until you reach the second old-factory building. Head to the north end of this building so you are overlooking the Hallowed Grove Lost Sector. On the platform there you will find the feather.

Feather on Cosmodrome at The Steppes Landing Zone

Leave the EDZ and head to the Cosmodrome destination. Land at The Steppes. When you spawn onto the planet you will be in a destroyed area. On the pillar directly in-front of you is the feather. Jump up to it and collect it.

Feather on Dreaming City By Gate to Blind Well

From the EDZ make your way to the Dreaming City destination. Land at the Divalian Mists Landing Zone and head to the northeast so you reach the large gate. Don’t go through the gate instead jump to the little ledge on the left to find this feather sitting there.

Feather on The Moon in Shrine of Oryx, the Fanatic Boss Room

The last feather we need to find is located on the Moon destination in the Oryx, the Fanatic Boss Room. To reach this room make your way to the Archer’s Line area and access the shrine entrance there that leads to the Hall of Wisdom. Head through the Hall of Wisdom to reach the Shrine of Oryx area. Make your way to the boss room of this area and grab the feather that is near the Helium Coils (shown above).

Return to Spider

Once you’ve collected all of the feathers mentioned above, head back to the Tangled Shore and visit the Crow. Speak to the NPC to hand in the As The Crow Flies exotic mission. Completing this mission will unlock the Migratory Patterns Triumph. Once this mission is complete it is time to move onto the next exotic mission in this storyline.

Complete Let Loose Thy Talons

Upon handing in the As the Crow Flies exotic mission you will trigger a dialogue sequence with The Crow. After this dialogue sequence is complete you can accept a new exotic quest called Let Loose Thy Talons. This second exotic mission is a bit longer than the previous one we completed as you will need to finish a total of 10 quest steps. The reward for completing these steps is the Hawkmoon. When you are ready accept the quest to start.

Complete EDZ Mission Cry From Beyond

The first quest step you need to complete is fairly easy to do. All you need to do for this step is make your way to the EDZ destination. On this destination complete the mission titled A Cry From Beyond that can be found in The Sludge Landing Zone. This mission is fairly short and it puts you into your own instance when you start it. Complete this mission to receive the first piece of the Hawkmoon. Take that piece back to the Crow to get the next quest step.

Collect 50 Orbs of Power

The second quest step you need to complete is fairly straightforward. All you need to do here is collect/generate a total of 50 Orbs of Power. These orbs drop off a number of different sources with the easiest being kills with a masterwork weapon. Equip a masterwork weapon and farm enemies around the Spider’s Safehouse. Each drop is +1 and each pick up is +1 also. Once you’ve completed this step return to the Crow again to get the next step.

Investigate the Coordinates

Once you’ve spoken with the Crow again you will receive a set of coordinates. These coordinates are for Trostland on the EDZ. Head to this destination and interact with the hawk at the map marker. This will start another mini-mission like the Cry From Beyond. This mission doesn’t take you to your own instance. Instead you need to follow the map markers into the area near the holo-hawk.

During this mini-mission you need to collect another 5 feathers. These feathers appear along the mission path and are unmissable (unless you simply don’t pick them up). Once you’ve collected all 5 feathers make your way back to the Crow again to get the next step.

Champions/Guardians Defeated

The next step involves racking up kills on Champion enemies in PvE or Guardians in Crucible/Gambit. How you choose to do this step is largely up to you, but I would recommend focusing your attention on activities that contain Champions as they reward 3% per kill. This highest amount you can get from the options presented. To easily find Champions I recommend running the Master and Legendary Lost Sectors if you are strong enough. If you aren’t strong enough for that run Empire Hunts at 1220.

Hawkmoon Reforged

Upon completion of the previous quest step you will unlock the Hawkmoon Reforged step. If you recall we received a weapon frame near the beginning of the quest-line. It’s time to reforge that weapon. To do this you need to complete the mission called The Crow and the Hawk in The Sludge area of the EDZ.

This mission takes you to your own instance when you interact with the holo-hawk. Again you will appear inside the Hallowed Grove. Follow the hawk to return to the location where you found the Hawkmoon frame. Lower the barrier to receive the gun itself. Defeat the boss that spawns to complete the mission.

The Hawkmoon Perks & Traits

Once you have completed the Let Loose Thy Talons exotic mission you will receive the Hawkmoon exotic hand cannon. This exotic weapon is a kinetic hand cannon that comes with the following Perks & Traits:

  • Corkscrew Rifling: Balanced Barrel.
    • Slightly increases range and stability.
    • Slightly increases handling speed.
  • Alloy Magazine: Faster reloads when the magazine is empty.
  • Transformative: Future drops of this weapon will have random rolls.
  • Smooth Grip: This weapon is slightly easier to hold and aim.
    • Slighlty increases stability.
    • Slightly increases handling speed.
  • Paracausal Shot: Final blows and precision hits with Hawkmoon grant stacks of Paracausal Charge. The final round in the magazine deals bonus damage based on the number of stacks. Stowing Hawkmoon on the final round removes the bonus.
