At the start of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla you will take control of a child Eivor. While controlling the child you can walk around a party. During this party you can learn some lore points. To help you complete the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla game opening check out our quick guide below.

Party in the Viking Age

Once the game starts and you have control of Eivor head forward and open the two double-doors in front of you. In teh large party room walk forward until you meet Varin. When you are near Varin you will trigger a cutscene. During this cutscene Varin will give you a gift to give to the king.

After you receive the gift you can dance on the dance floor if you feel like it. Once you’ve busted a move follow the path to the left through the people. Here you will meet Sigurd. After this cutscene is over continue along the path until you reach Rosta at the table. From here head to the king to trigger yet another cutscene.

Which Eivor to Select?

During the cutscene with the king the village will get attacked. You will then regain control of Eivor. Walk to the open door of the longhouse to trigger a cutscene. At the end of this rather long sequence you will be able to select your Eivor. You have three choices:

  • Male.
  • Female.
  • Let the Animus decide: You will switch between the two during the course of the story.

Select whichever Eivor you want as there is no discernible difference between the two characters (can also be changed at anytime). Once you’ve selected the Eivor you wish to play the game as the story will advance some years in the story. This advancement will start the first real mission in the game called Honor Bound.
