Destiny 2: How to Unlock the Mars Obelisk
In Season 9 of Destiny 2 there is a new addition of obelisks on various planets for players to unlock. These obelisks are tied to the Sundial and dictate the rewards you can earn at the end of that arena mission. To help you unlock these obelisks I am putting together guides for each planet. Today we are looking at Mars. Continue reading below to learn how to unlock the Mars obelisk in Destiny 2.
Speak with Osiris to Start Mars Obelisk Mission
If you’ve visited Mars you may have noticed that the obelisk is inactive. To unlock this obelisk you first need to complete the A Disturbance on Mercury mission for Osiris. Upon completion of this mission you will be able to speak to Osiris inside the Sundial. Do this now to receive the Mars: Obelisk Attunement mission.
Mars: Obelisk Attunement Guide
Once you’ve received the Mars: Obelisk Attunement mission from Osiris you will start the quest to unlock the Obelisk on Mars. Like the Tangled Shores you will start with a Recovery Operation.
How to Complete Mars Recovery Operation?
The first section of this mission is to collect 50 Salvaged BrayTech pieces from defeating Hive enemies or opening chests on Mars. Since each Hive enemy drops a Salvage Braytech piece on death that is the fastest way to complete this objective.
An easy way to get a ton of Hive to fight is to simply run the Escalation Protocol in Braytech Futurescape. If you don’t want to do this look for Hive in areas like:
- Braytech Futurescape.
- Glacial Drift.
Once you’ve gathered all 50 Salvaged BrayTech Pieces you will pop the next objective called Mars: Reinforcement which is to deliver the pieces to the obelisk. Make your way to the obelisk in BrayTech Futurescapes now.
How to Complete Mars Reinforcements?
Like the previous obelisk all you are doing here is interacting with the deposit area of the obelisk. Once you do this you will receive the next step in the quest which is Mars: Light Collection.
How to Complete Mars Light Collection and Light Infusion?
This objective is exactly like the other obelisk Light Collection. You need to use your abilities and Super to kill enemies on Mars. Again the easiest way to do this is to run the Escalation Protocol in Braytech Futurescape since it provides a ton of enemies to fight. Just be sure to use your abilities and Super to kill enemies when available.
Once you’ve defeated all the enemies using super and abilities you will unlock the Light Infusion step. This step is completed by simply heading to the obelisk bank and interacting with it. Upon banking the light the obelisk will become attuned. You will receive a Major Fractaline Harvest for your troubles.
