Like previous 7 Star Raid Battles the Chesnaught is limited to one catch per save. It is Shiny Locked meaning you have to use alternative methods to get Chesnaught in its Shiny form.

When the Chenaught Tera Raid event is active players can look for a Black Crystal Raid Dungeon on their map once per day. Additionally players can also join up online with either their friends or other trainers via the Poke Portal to take on Chesnaught.

One of the moves Chesnaught uses is Stone Edge.

Before diving head first into the Level 100 Chesnaught Tera Raid you will want to know what you are going up against. The Chesnaught you face is Tera Type Rock. Additionally you will want to know the Pokemon’s moveset. The Level 100 Chesnaught you face has the following move set:

MoveDescription
Bulletproof (Ability)Protects the Pokemon from ball and bomb moves.
EarthquakeThe user sets off an earthquake that strikes every Pokémon around it.
Iron DefenseThe user hardens its body’s surface like iron, sharply boosting its Defense stat.
Wood HammerThe user slams its rugged body into the target to attack. This also damages the user quite a lot.
Stone EdgeThe user stabs the target with sharpened stones. This move has a heightened chance of landing a critical hit.
Bulk UpThe user tenses its muscles to bulk up its body, boosting its Attack and Defense stats.
CurseA move that has different effects depending on whether the user is a Ghost type or not.

The Tera Raid Chesnaught offers some interesting coverage issues. The Pokemon deals Grass, Rock, and Fighting type damage. To counter this you need to find a Pokemon build that can survive these types of damage while also dealing damage against Chesnaught.

Best Pokemon to Use Against Chesnaught

Solo: Appletun is good here. Have your Appletun at Level 100 and ensure it has Acid Spray, Giga Drain, and Iron Defense. Use Iron Defense to build up your defense and use Acid Spray to lower Chesnaught’s Special Defense. Mix in Gigdrain when you need health. Tera when available and just wittle it down until you’ve defeated the Chesnaught.

What Items does Chesnaught Drop during the Raid?

NOTE: Make a Basil, Bacon, Sweet Herba Mysicat and Spicy Herba Mystica sandwich before fighting Chesnaught. This sandwich triggers Raid Power: Rock Level 3 which improves the amount of items received at the end of Rock Tera Type Raids.

Like other raids Chesnaught drops items when it is caught/defeated. The items Chesnaught can drop are high level Raid items and you get a lot of them. You will not get everything each time you complete the Tera Raid. There is a percentage chance drop rate for each item, which you can find over on Serebii. The list of things you can potentially get from this raid are as follows:

  • Ability Patch.
  • Ability Capsule.
  • Bottle Caps.
  • Rare Candies.
  • Exp Candy L/XL.
  • Iron.
  • Rock Tera Shards.
  • TM 150 – Stone Edge.
  • Ability Patch.
  • Star Pieces.
  • Comet Shards.
  • Nugget.
  • PP Up.
  • Impish Mint.

Once you’ve caught Chesnaught once, you are not able to catch it again. You can, however, farm the raid for the items listed above if you so choose. This can be done by changing your system clock or by helping other online players.

That’s all you need to know to complete the Chesnaught Tera Raid in Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet. This raid is fairly tough and does require you to put come effort into completing. If you are struggling, drop look for people in the comments below to help you.
