How to Catch Cosmog in Pokémon Sun and Moon

Cosmog, the Nebula Pokémon, plays a significant role in Pokémon Sun and Moon’s storyline. Often seen causing trouble in Lillie’s handbag, Cosmog is a key part of the game’s plot. If you’re wondering how to add this mysterious Pokémon to your team, follow our step-by-step guide below.
Where to Find Cosmog in Pokémon Sun and Moon
Cosmog is available to capture after you’ve completed the main storyline and earned the title of Pokémon League Champion. Here’s how to find and catch this rare Pokémon:
Step 1: Become the Pokémon League Champion
Before you can catch Cosmog, you must defeat the Elite Four and become the Champion of Alola. Complete the main story, defeating the Elite Four and the Pokémon League, to officially claim the title of Champion.
Step 2: Prepare Your Team
To access Cosmog, you’ll need one of the Legendary Pokémon, either Solgaleo (Pokémon Sun) or Lunala (Pokémon Moon). Make sure you have the appropriate Legendary Pokémon in your party, as you’ll need it to unlock the next steps.
Step 3: Head to the Altar of Sunne or Altar of Moone
After becoming Champion, visit the Altar of Sunne (for Pokémon Sun) or Altar of Moone (for Pokémon Moon). The time of day will affect which altar you need to visit:
- Altar of Sunne during the night (Pokémon Sun)
- Altar of Moone during the day (Pokémon Moon)
Step 4: Activate the Portal
Once you arrive at the altar with either Solgaleo or Lunala in your party, you’ll discover a portal. Approach it, and you’ll be transported to an alternate world where Cosmog resides.
Step 5: Journey to the Lake
In this alternate world, head to the Lake of the Sunne (for Pokémon Sun players) or Lake of the Moone (for Pokémon Moon players). During this journey, you’ll encounter the Legendary Pokémon from the opposite version of the game, triggering a short cutscene.
Step 6: Catch Cosmog
After the cutscene, Cosmog will appear. You’ll have the opportunity to add this Nebula Pokémon to your team. Simply follow the on-screen prompts to catch it.
Step 7: Evolve Cosmog
Cosmog evolves into Cosmoem at level 43. From there, it can evolve into either Solgaleo or Lunala at level 53, depending on your version of the game.
Capturing Cosmog is a rewarding part of your post-game adventure in Pokémon Sun and Moon. With its important role in the storyline and powerful evolutions, Cosmog is a must-have for any trainer looking to complete their Alola adventure.
