Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Mastery Challenges Guide
In the update 1.2.2 of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Ubisoft added a special set of challenges for high level players. These challenges, dubbed Mastery Challenges, task players with completing special trials. To help you complete these challenges we’ve put together this brief Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Mastery Challenges guide.
How to Unlock Mastery Challenges
Before you can get out there and take on the Mastery Challenges you need to first meet a few requirements. To gain access to these challenges you need to be Power Level 221 or above and have completed the Uninvited Guests main story quest. When you meet both of these requirements you will unlock a special quest called A Challenge from the Gods. This quest tasks you with meeting an old lady in Ravensthorpe.
How to Start and Complete Mastery Challenges
Upon unlocking the Mastery Challenge quest you will unlock special shrines out in the world that contain three trials you need to complete. These three trials focus on particular aspects of the game. The three trials are:
- Bear = Test your strength (combat)
- Wolf = Test your marksmanship (range)
- Raven = Test your guile (stealth)
Each of the trials listed above task you with completing different objectives. These objectives focus on the different aspects of the trial’s theme. You are scored for completing objectives in each trial. The higher you score the better the medal you earn. Medals you earn reward you with special currency called Battle Energy and Mastery Energy. These currencies can be spent at the special store run by Hildiran.
Mastery Challenges Shop Items
An interesting aspect of the Mastery Challenge is the rewards it unlocks for completion. The trials themselves reward you with special currency you can spend at Hildiran’s Wares. If you wish to see the full list of items that Hildiran sells I’ve put them in the table below (updating).

Hildiran hints at adding more stock when you complete trials at Gold medal completion. So far I’ve completed 6 and have not noticed a difference in what she is selling. I will update the inventory if I discover more items.
What’s Inside Hildiran’s Vault
To access the vault mentioned in the cutscene you need to collect a number of medallions from the different trials. Once you collect enough you will be able to return to Hidiran. Hildiran will walk with you to the vault in a cutscene and you will open it. Inside you find a room with a special orb. You will approach the orb and will take it. It is Odin’s Eye, a key that helps you find Odin’s Vault (a future mission). The next task is to get all Gold in the 15 challenges if you are up for it.
This concludes our look at the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Mastery Challenges. If you are in the end-game these are fairly simple to bang out with a solid build. Doing all of the mastery challenges yields decent rewards for your effort.
What do you think of the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Mastery Challenges? Let me know in the comments below.
After starting the mystery challenge every area now has a stupid high suggested power level. Started at 346 but since i have went up myself they are now at 353. I cant find anyone talking about this so i dont know if its a glitch or what. Even my own settlement is 353. Who knows of it will be fixed or go back to normal.
Same issue but a bigger jump
I (level 430 and 71 years old) have completed all of the mystery challenges and found, on completion, the series a big disappointment. I expected more from the “meteor maid” on completion. I also found the sequences to be very glitchy. As old as this game series is, I expect more refinement. Having said that, I look forward to this particular story line to be released (hopefully soon before I lose interest.)
