Where to Find the Trapper in Red Dead Redemption 2
If you’ve been spending your time hunting in Red Dead Redemption 2, you may have noticed that you have a ton of pelts but no one to sell them to. This predicament is especially noticeable if you hunt any of the game’s legendary animals early on. Luckily for us there is a Trapper that will buy our hunting spoils, you just need to find him. Below I will show you where to find the trapper in Red Dead Redemption 2.
Complete Chapter 1 Mission Eastward Bound
To get access to the Trapper you need to complete Chapter 1 of the story.
To get the Trapper to appear on your world map you must first complete the Chapter 1 mission “Eastward Bound”. During this mission you and the gang ride down from the mountains to set up camp at Horseshoe Overlook. Once you’ve completed this mission, you will begin Chapter 2. In Chapter 2 you gain access to the open world. Once you have access to the Open World the Trapper will become available to shop/sell at.
Track Down the Trapper

- The Trapper is located in a number of different places across the map. With that said the closest one to the start of the game is this one.

- The Trapper will buy all of your animal materials.
The Trapper will appear in a number of different places throughout the world of Red Dead Redemption 2. These places are typically near some type of city, which means you don’t need to go very far to find him. The locations are:
- East of Riggs Station (Closest location to start of game).
- West of Elysian Pool
- Saint Denis
There you have it a simple look at where to find the trapper in Red Dead Redemption 2. As I discover more of the locations, I will add them to the list above.
Well… you just spread more misinformation about the trapper. You don’t need to skin a legendary animal either. I don’t have any yet and the trapper is available in all locations. My guess is that they are there all the time or appear after the hunting mission for the legendary bear (no matter if you kill it or not).
Thanks for this update. I guess my correlation between things was wrong. I had visited the first Trapper location pre-hunting my first Legendary and he was not there. It would make sense that he would appear after being introduced to Legendary Animals during the quest. Thanks for reading.
Also it would make sense he would appear after the Legendary Bear mission since other things like the Stable are introduced in a similar fashion.
