January 2024 Game Release Dates to Get Excited For

The dawn of a new year is upon us, and 2024 has officially commenced, bidding farewell to a fairly packed, albeit somewhat underwhelming, year of game releases. As is customary, January brings a relatively light slate of game releases, but there are a few notable titles to keep an eye on. The following list outlines the major January 2024 game release dates to get excited for.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown – January 18

The first major release of January 2024 is the return of the king, er, prince. Ubisoft’s Prince of Persia series is back with a new side-scrolling action-adventure platformer the Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. If you are curious about seeing the new look Prince, and learning more about the games story, you can check out the official story trailer released during The Game Awards.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is set to release on January 18th across platforms such as PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. Pre-orders are currently available at various retailers, including Ubisoft’s store. Players subscribed to Ubisoft+ will receive the game included as part of their monthly fee and gain early access to it three days before the official release.

The Last of Us Part II Remastered – January 19

Naughty Dog is re-releasing The Last of Us Part II as The Last of Us Part II Remastered. This version, designed for PlayStation 5, enhances the popular PlayStation 4 title with improved visuals and other remastered tweaks.

In the remaster, a standout addition is a special roguelike survival mode named No Return. This mode features a roster of playable characters from the game, unlockable costumes for those characters, and a collection of “lost levels” that were cut from the main game. Furthermore, No Return includes a special timed mode for speedrunning the roguelike experience.

The Last of Us Part II Remastered will release on January 19th for PlayStation 5. You can pre-order it now from the official PlayStation store.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth – January 24

Easily the biggest release of this month is Capcom’s Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is the newest role-playing entry in the Like a Dragon series. This ne title brings back Ichiban Kasuga and Kazuma Kiryu and takes them on a bit of a tropical adventure. Players get to explore the series first overseas location, Hawaii, and also Japan.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth will launch on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on January 24. You can pre-order the game now.

Tekken 8 – January 26

Ending January on a high note, fighting game enthusiasts receive a pleasant surprise with the January 2024 release of Tekken 8. This latest iteration of the popular Tekken fighter is powered by Unreal Engine 5, introducing new high-definition models to enhance the gaming experience.

In terms of gameplay, the developers are reintroducing Rage Arts and signature moves. Additionally, a new Heat System is being added, enabling players to unlock special moves and enhancements unique to each character.

Tekken 8 will release onto PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on January 26. There are a bunch of different pre-order and editions you can purchase now. See the official Tekken website for details on what’s in each.

January 2024 has a modest release lineup, primarily catering to existing fans with no major standout new IP. It’s a good time to tackle your backlog.
