How to Get Krobus as Roommate in Stardew Valley
The Stardew Valley 1.4 update introduced many exciting features, and one of the most interesting is the ability to have Krobus as a roommate. For players who have always wanted to invite this mysterious shadow figure into their home, the 1.4 update finally made it possible. If you’re eager to learn how to get Krobus as a roommate in Stardew Valley, follow our step-by-step guide below.
Where to Find Krobus
Krobus, the friendly shadowy figure, resides in the Sewers of Pelican Town. To gain access to the Sewer, you’ll need to obtain the Rusty Key from Gunther as a reward for donating 60 Artifacts to the Museum.
Once you have the Rusty Key, you can unlock either the manhole cover near the graveyard in town or the sewer grate in Cindersap Forest. Inside the Sewers, you’ll find Krobus at his shop every day, ready to interact with you.
Increase Friendship to 10 Hearts with Krobus
To have Krobus move in as your roommate, you must first raise your friendship level with him to 10 Hearts. Here’s how to strengthen your bond:
Similar to other villagers, Krobus responds positively to receiving gifts. Giving him his favorite items will significantly speed up your progress toward 10 Hearts. Focus on these gifts to maximize friendship points:
- Stardrop
- Diamond
- Iridium Bar
- Pumpkin
- Void Egg
- Void Mayonnaise
- Wild Horseradish
You can give Krobus up to two gifts per week, and don’t forget that his birthday is on Winter 1, when a birthday gift will give you a massive 8x boost to friendship.
Upgrade Your Farmhouse
Before Krobus can move in, you’ll need to upgrade your farmhouse. You must have the first house upgrade from Robin’s Carpenter Shop, which costs:
- 10,000g
- 450 Wood
After purchasing the upgrade, Robin will take three days to complete the construction. Once your house is upgraded, you’re ready to ask Krobus to move in.
Get a Void Ghost Pendant
To ask Krobus to become your roommate, you’ll need to present him with a Void Ghost Pendant. This pendant functions similarly to the Mermaid’s Pendant used for marriage proposals. There are two main ways to obtain a Void Ghost Pendant:
- Buy from the Desert Trader: The Calico Desert Trader sells the Void Ghost Pendant for 200 Void Essence.
- Farm in Skull Cavern: The Void Ghost Pendant can also be a rare drop from monsters in the Skull Cavern.
Once you have the Void Ghost Pendant, give it to Krobus in the Sewers. He will accept your offer and move into your farmhouse within three days.
Krobus’ Room and Role as a Roommate
When Krobus moves in, he’ll add his own room to your farmhouse, which replicates the look of his home in the Sewer. Even though Krobus moves into your home, you can still access his store by interacting with a chest in the Sewer.
Unlike marriage candidates, Krobus’ interactions are strictly platonic. He will not kiss your character, but he does offer hugs, and you can still build your friendship with other villagers. At 13 Hearts, Krobus will give you a Stardrop, similar to the marriage candidates.
If you decide that having Krobus as a roommate isn’t for you, you can evict him for free by using the book in Mayor Lewis’s house, similar to how divorce works in the game.
Krobus’ 14-Heart Event
One great reason to invite Krobus to live with you is to unlock his 14-Heart Event. Once you reach 14 Hearts, visit the Beach on any non-rainy day between 8 pm and 1 am to trigger a special cutscene. In this event, Krobus shares more about himself, giving players deeper insight into his character.
If you want to see the full cutscene, check out the Krobus 14-Heart Event.video from our Hold To Reset channel above.
Now that you know how to get Krobus as a roommate in Stardew Valley, it’s time to start building your friendship and get your farmhouse ready for this unique companion. Krobus adds a fun dynamic to your in-game life, and his 14-Heart Event is a must-see for any dedicated player.
