Last night, The Game Awards showcased not only the presentation of awards but also unveiled several upcoming games. Among the initial reveals in the pre-show was Pony Island 2: Panda Circus, the anticipated sequel to Daniel Mullins’ 2016 indie success, Pony Island.

Pony Island 2: Panda Circus Announcement Trailer

True to Daniel Mullins’ game design approach, the apparent surface details of Pony Island 2: Panda Circus may not entirely reflect the true nature of the experience. This sequel appears to adhere to Mullins’ distinctive design philosophy, promising a gaming journey that goes beyond what meets the eye.

Alongside the trailer, above, we also got a bit of a description of the game and what players can expect. The little detail shared in the official game description reads as follows:

Pony Island 2: Panda Circus is a phantasmagorical voyage through time, myth, divinity, and video games. You were a young nomad who would have gone on to conquer the world… until an early death doomed you to The Earth Prison. Now you must escape the lordly deities of the underworld with your soul, and your sanity, intact. This is not a game about ponies.

In Pony Island 2: Panda Circus you will…

  • Bargain for your soul with the eccentric deities who reign over The Earth Prison
  • Beat (or break) their games with naught but your steed, your thumb drive, and your wits
  • Become your destiny, or attempt to transcend it

While numerous aspects of the game will remain mysterious until its release, a confirmed detail reveals the participation of YouTuber/Voice Actor/Actor ProZD. A twitter announcement from the actor specifies that he will portray the character King Yan in the game. This character is on of the eccentric deities you must bargain with while playing his games.

Pony Island 2: Panda Circus currently doesn’t have a release date. When it does release it will be available on through Steam on the PC. You can visit the Steam Page to Wishlist and read more about the game.

This is just one of many games that was revealed during The 2023 Game Awards Show.
