Crystal Peak | Hollow Knight Guide
After completing the Soul Sanctum sub area you can access the Crystal Peak. This large mine area features a new ability for us to find, a boss to fight, and a few useful key items to collect. To help you easily navigate this area see our Crystal Peak guide below.
Crystal Peak Map
Crystal Peak is a large, sprawling area with many twists and turns. The main purpose of our visit is to collect the ability called Crystal Heart. To get a general idea of the area’s layout, consult the map above. This guide starts from the Forgotten Crossroads entrances.
Where to Get the Crystal Peak Map
When you arrive in Crystal Peak the only way you can go is right/down then right. In the room below head to the right. Cross the gap using the conveyor belts to reach the other side.
Bench 1
On the other side you can go up or to the right. Go right into the room with the sign for the Bench. Walk over to the first Bench and grab it. Head up to the top left corner of this room to snag a Rancid Egg.
From here you can either head right and up or go back to the long vertical room and head up there. Regardless head up through the two rooms to reach Cornifer. Buy the Crystal Peak map from him for 112 Geo.
What Happens If You Don’t Buy the Crystal Peak Map from Cornifer?
If you don’t find Cornifer or you don’t buy his map from him before he moves to a new spot, don’t fear. Maps will appear in Iselda’s shop in Dirtmouth, but at a higher price than if bought directly from Cornifer.
Reach the Crystal Heart Ability
Head right from where you go the map and go into the next room. In this room make your wayo up into the next room. Make your way up into this next room to the middle.
Bench 2 & Crystal Guardian 1
To the right you will see a sign for the second Bench. Follow the sign into the next room. Walk over to the Bench. There is an enemy sitting on it. This is the Crystal Guardian.
When you are ready to fight hit the Crystal Guardian. This will start the first fight with this boss. Upon defeating the Crystal Guardian it will run away. Sit at the Bench.
Leave the Bench and head back into the room on your left.
Shopkeeper’s Key
In this room make your way up and enter the small area to the right. In this little area/alcove you will find an item. Pick it up to score the Shopkeeper’s Key.
What Does the Shopkeeper’s Key Do?
Give the Shopkeeper’s Key to Sly in Dirtmouth to unlock additional items in his shop, including the Elegant Key.
Continue heading up after acquiring the Shopkeeper’s Key. At the top of the room go through the top exit. You will reach a room with Quirrel. Speak to Quirrel and then use the exit to the right to reach the next room.
Walk forward and use the hole/exit to go down into the next room. In this room head down until you see a lever on your right. Hit the lever to open the gate leading below. This opens a shortcut back to Bench 2.
Go right of the lever and head down. Continue heading down. At the very bottom use the lever on the left to open the gate. Go right into the next room.
Crystal Heart Ability
Complete the long platforming sequence in this room to reach the far right. In the far right you will find a large bug you can inspect. Do this to receive the Crystal Heart ability which allows you to launch yourself forward across large distances.
Use the Crystal Heart to launch your way back to the entrance of this room. Head left into the previous room.
Before continuing to the Crystalised Mound be sure you have the Lumafly Lantern (bought from Sly in Dirtmouth).
Head to the Crystallised Mound
Go through the gate and drop down. Follow the path right until you reach the top of the room to the right of Bench 1. In this room use the lever on the right to open the gate.
Grub 1
By the gate you will find a Grub (13/46). Free it. Continue heading below. Head down until you see an exit on your right. Go through the exit into the next room.
Crystalised Mound Entrance
Complete the platforming in this dark room to reach the room on the right. Cross the gap using the Crystal Heart ability to reach the right side. Go right and enter the hut when prompted to reach the Crystalised Mound and advance the main storyline.
