Cyberpunk 2077 Pet Guide: How to Get Nibbles & The Iguana

Finding Cyberpunk 2077 pets is the best way to make V’s Megabuilding H10 apartment feel like a real home amidst the chaos of Night City. While most players know about Nibbles the cat, many miss the chance to hatch the rare pet Iguana because of a specific, missable item during the prologue.

Whether you are just starting Act 1 or you’re looking for a glitch to get the Iguana egg after “The Heist,” this guide covers the exact steps, location coordinates, and console commands you need to unlock every secret companion in the game.

How to Get Nibbles the Cat

Nibbles is the first pet available to most players. You can adopt him as soon as you have access to V’s primary apartment.

Step 1: Secure Cat Food

To trigger the adoption event, you must have Cat Food in your inventory. While this can occasionally be looted from random crates, the most reliable method is to buy it:

  • Location: Visit the food vendor in the Kabuki Market (Watson).
  • Cost: A few eddies. If they don’t have it, skip time by 24 hours to refresh their stock.

Step 2: Complete “Feed Teh Cat”

Once you have the food, head back to your apartment at Megabuilding H10:

  1. Locate the Bowl: Exit your apartment, turn left, and follow the hallway around the corner.
  2. Read the Shard: Near a trash can, you’ll find a data shard titled “Feed Teh Cat.”
  3. Place the Food: Interact with the bowl next to the trash can to leave the Cat Food.
  4. Wait: Go back to your apartment and Wait/Sleep for 24 hours.
  5. Adopt: Return to the bowl. You will find Nibbles eating. Interact with him, and a cinematic will play where V brings him home.

How to Get the Pet Iguana

The Iguana is significantly harder to obtain because the key item is located during a missable story mission.

Step 1: Find the Iguana Egg

During the Act 1 mission “The Heist,” you will enter Yorinobu Arasaka’s penthouse.

  • The Location: Before things go south, look for a large terrarium with a live Iguana near the entrance of the main room.
  • The Egg: Check the far side of the log inside the terrarium. Pick up the Iguana Egg hidden there.

Can you get the Iguana Egg after “The Heist”?

If you missed the egg during the mission, don’t panic—you aren’t completely out of luck. While there is no “official” way back into Konpeki Plaza, the community has discovered several parkour glitches to get back inside.

  • Pro-Tip: You will generally need the Reinforced Tendons (Double Jump) cyberware to pull this off. Check out the guide by CraneGames on YouTube; it is widely considered the most reliable method and is confirmed to work as of the latest updates.

PC Shortcut: Using Console Commands to Spawn Iguana Egg

If you are playing on PC and have Cyber Engine Tweaks installed, you don’t need to glitch back into the plaza. Simply open your console and enter the following command to add the egg directly to your inventory:

Game.AddToInventory("Items.q005_iguana_egg", 1)

Note: You still need to place the egg in the bowl in V’s apartment and wait the required 90 days for it to hatch!

Step 2: Hatching the Iguana Egg

Place the Iguana Egg in the bowl in your apartment when it appears.

Once you reach Act 2 (after meeting Takemura at the diner), you can begin the hatching process:

  1. The Bowl: Go to V’s Megabuilding H10 apartment. A small, empty bowl will appear on a table in the center of the main room.
  2. Place the Egg: Interact with the bowl to place the egg inside.
  3. The Long Wait: It takes approximately 90-100 in-game days for the egg to hatch. You can play the game naturally or use the “Skip Time” feature repeatedly.

Once you have one or both of the pets listed above, you will encounter them in different areas of your Apartment.

If you manage to get both pets, keep an eye out! They will occasionally share the same sleeping spots or interact with one another, giving V the most wholesome apartment in the most dangerous city on earth.
