4 Ways to Get Opals in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
To buy items from Reda’s Shop, you’ll need to earn Opals, the special in-game currency in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Here’s things you can do to get Opals:
1. Complete Reda’s Daily and Weekly Contracts
You can earn Opals by completing daily and weekly contracts given by Reda. When you speak to Reda selected “I want a contract” to see what contracts are available. Contracts come in two types:
- Daily Contracts: You get two new contracts every 24 hours. These usually involve quick tasks like assassinating a target or rescuing a captive and reward you with 5 Opals each. If you have the Dawn of Ragnarök expansion, you can pick up a third daily contract by visiting any of the Thousand Eyes merchants located within the dwarf shelters of Svartalfheim.
- Weekly Contracts: Every Tuesday, a more involved “Weekly Contract” becomes available (e.g., killing a certain number of enemies with a specific weapon). This rewards you with 20 Opals.
2. Find Opals in the World
As you traverse the diverse landscapes of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and its expansions, you can discover Opals scattered throughout the environment as a reward for keen exploration. These rare stones are most abundant in the primary maps of England and Norway, as well as the DLC regions of Ireland, Francia, and Svartalfheim. Note that they are generally absent from smaller standalone locales like Vinland or the Isle of Skye.
To locate them, use Odin’s Sight to reveal a distinct white, diamond-shaped icon when you are nearby. Many are tucked away in “parkour puzzles,” such as high church rafters, the peaks of synchronization points, or behind breakable walls. You can also use your raven, Synin, to scout from the air and tag their exact coordinates on your HUD.
Because Opals are a server-side currency tied to your Ubisoft account, they only appear while you are playing online. Once an Opal is collected, it is permanently removed from the world across all your current and future playthroughs.
3. Complete Limited-Time Seasonal Events
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla occasionally hosts seasonal festivals in Ravensthorpe, such as the Oskoreia, Sigrblot, or Yule festivals. During these events, players can earn a significant amount of Opals by completing limited-time quests and participating in special mini-game challenges like archery contests, brawls, or drinking games.
These events often introduce a dedicated Event Shop with exclusive gear and settlement cosmetics. While some items require event-specific tokens, Reda often offers unique contracts during these periods that provide a higher Opal yield than standard daily tasks. Because these festivals are time-sensitive, it is best to prioritize these challenges as soon as they appear in your quest log.
4. Ubisoft Connect Rewards & Gifts
Beyond active gameplay, you can occasionally acquire Opals through Ubisoft Connect rewards. These are often presented as “gifts” or bundles during special milestones, such as game anniversaries or major title updates.
- Claiming Free Bundles: Periodically check the “Ubisoft Connect” tab from the game’s main menu. Navigate to the “Rewards” section; Ubisoft has historically given away packs containing up to 300 Opals (like the “Godly Reward” pack) or smaller 50-Opal bundles for free.
- Weekly Community Challenges: In the same menu under “Challenges,” you will find community goals (e.g., “The community must perform 5,000,000 assassinations”). If the goal is met, you can claim a reward—often 10 to 50 Opals—simply by having contributed at least once to the objective.
- One-Time Redemption: Most of these gifts are one-time offers. Once you claim a bundle or a challenge reward, it is added to your account inventory across all save files but cannot be redeemed again.
As you can see there are a number of ways to get Opals in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Getting this currency will allow you to buy various items from Reda whenever you want.
