The Mount Update lets you turn any pet you own into a rideable mount, so there’s no special mount pet you need to track down first. If you’ve been wondering how to get a Mount in Steal an Egg, you’re in the right place — below, we walk you through the exact steps, from picking the pet you want to ride to mounting up for the first time.
How to Get Mount Stars
The first thing you need to do to make a pet into a mount is get an item called a Mount Star. There are two ways to get stars.
Buy Mount Stars from the Star Handler NPC at Spawn using Robux
One way to get Mount Stars is to buy them from the Star Handler NPC at Spawn. Speak to the NPC and ask to “View Stars.” This opens the shop where you can buy 1, 3, or 5 Mount Stars using Robux. You can buy 5 Mount Stars a week.
Get a Mount Star from the Starfall Random Event
If you don’t want to buy Mount Stars there is a special random event that can trigger called Starfall. During Starfall a Mount Star is given to every player on a server.
The Starfall event is a random event. It doesn’t occur across all servers at the same time. It is on a server by server basis.
How to Use Mount Stars
Creating a mount is permanent (at this point in time). Be absolutely sure about the pets you want to make mountable. Read this whole section before you do anything!
Once you have a Mount Star you need to use it to turn a pet into a mount. To do this equip the Mount Star and approach a pet in your pen. You will be prompted to “feed star” to the pet.
Upon feeding a pet a Mount Star a warning appears. Click yes on the Apply Star screen to complete the mount making process.
In my testing it appears you can only ride pets that are equipped in your pen. This may change in the future, but it is very important to keep this in mind. There is currently no point in making a low earning pet into a mount.
How to Ride Your Pet Mount
Once you’ve created a mount you might be wondering how to ride it. Pet mounts are accessed by opening the equipped pet menu on the right side of the screen.
Find your pet mount on the menu. There will be a green “Ride” button above Unequip now. Push Ride and you will mount your pet.
While you are riding your pet mount you will see a button to dismount. Push the button and you will stop riding.
What Do Mounts Do
Mounts currently don’t offer any additional benefits besides aura. The pets themselves don’t boost your speed or have any sort of gameplay mechanic associated to them. They are simply visual ways for you to flex your pets on other players in the server.
