Destiny 2: Shadowkeep is currently holding an event called the Iron Banner. The Iron Banner is a multiplayer centered mode that pits teams two teams of six guardians against each other. In this mode players compete over three capture points on a map. The more points controlled the more points you score with kills. In the Iron Banner there is a quest you can complete. The post below is our Scour The Rust guide.

Where to Start Scour The Rust

To start make your way to the Tower and speak to Lord Saladin. Lord Saladin can be found in the area above the Gunsmith (wolf symbol on your map). At Lord Saladin you will find a quest line waiting for you called Scour The Rust. This quest line wants you to complete the following in the Iron Banner game mode:

  • 30 Opponents Defeated.
  • 10 Zones Captured.
  • 3 Super Final Blows.

To start an Iron Banner match navigate to the Director and access the Crucible > Iron Banner option. From here you will be matched with other Guardians for the game mode.

How to Complete the Scour The Rust Spectacle

As listed above you can see the requirements to complete this Spectacle. For the most part it shouldn’t be very difficult especially since you can complete the objectives over multiple matches.

30 Opponents Defeated

As it suggest, you complete this objective by taking out a total of 30 enemy Guardians. This should occur naturally as you play the game mode. To make things easier for yourself be sure to go into the game mode with your best armor and weapons equipped.

10 Zones Captured

In the Iron Banner game mode there are three zones for teams to capture: A, B, and C. Your primary focus should be on capturing these zones while killing enemies. To complete this objective you need to capture a total of 10 zones. This should be easy to do as it is a the primary mechanic of this game mode.

3 Super Final Blows

Like the other objectives this one should occur fairly naturally as you play through the Iron Banner game mode. Once your super is full, use it on enemies (the more grouped they are the better) to score final blows. Do this a total of three times to complete this objective.

Once you’ve completed all the objectives listed above you will earn a reward. You will receive the Legendary weapon called Claws of the Wolf and new objectives.

Spectacle Unlock: Claws of the Wolf Legendary

The Claws of the Wolf Pulse Rifle is a Legendary earned from completing the Spectacle portion of the Scour The Rust quest. This Pulse Rifle is useful for completing the second portion of the quest line which involves defeating enemies with a Pulse Rifle.

How to Complete the Scour The Rust Intent

Upon completion of the Spectacle portion of the Scour The Rust quest you will unlock the Intent portion of the quest. This quest tasks you with completing the following objectives:

  • 6 Matches Completed.
  • 20 Zones Captured.
  • 30 Final Blows with Pulse Rifles.

When ready to do so, jump back in the Iron Banner and start chasing the objectives listed above. For the most part this set of three objectives should be fairly easy to complete.

6 Matches Completed

Complete a total of 6 Iron Banner matches. Pretty straightforward objective here.

20 Zones Captured

As mentioned above, zones should be your primary focus in this game mode, so place an emphasis on capturing them.

25 Final Blows with Pulse Rifles

To complete this objective you need to land 25 final blows (meaning you get the last shot in) with Pulse Rifles. If you want to use The Claws of the Wolf gun you unlocked, feel free to. Regardless equip you favorite Pulse Rifle and get to killing.

Once you’ve completed all the objectives you will earn a reward. You will receive the Legendary weapon called The Wizened Rebuke and new objectives.

Intent Unlock: The Wizened Rebuke Legendary

The Wizened Rebuke Fusion Rifle is a Legendary earned from completing the Intent portion of the Scour The Rust quest. This Fusion Rifle is useful for completing the third portion of the quest line which involves defeating enemies with a Fusion Rifle.

How to Complete The Scour Rust Timing

Upon completion of the Intent portion of the Scour The Rust quest you will unlock the Timing portion of the quest. This quest tasks you with completing the following objectives:

  • 100 Opponents Defeated.
  • 20 Zones Captured.
  • 20 Final Blows with Pulse Rifles.

When ready to do so, jump back in the Iron Banner and start chasing the objectives listed above. For the most part this set of three objectives should be fairly easy to complete.

100 Opponents Defeated

Kill enemies in the Iron Banner game mode. Simple as that. Should be doable simply by playing.

30 Zones Captured

As mentioned above, zones should be your primary focus in this game mode, so place an emphasis on capturing them.

20 Final Blows with Fusion Rifles

To complete this objective you need to land 20 final blows (meaning you get the last shot in) with Fusion Rifles. If you want to use The Wizened Rebuke gun you unlocked, feel free to. Regardless equip you favorite Fusion Rifle and get to killing.

Once you’ve completed all the objectives listed above you will earn a reward. You will receive the Legendary weapon called The Hero’s Burden and new objectives.

Timing Unlock: The Hero’s Burden

The Hero’s Burden SMG is a Legendary earned from completing the Timing portion of the Scour The Rust quest. This SMG is useful for completing the fourth portion of the quest line which involves defeating enemies with a SMG.

How to Complete The Scour Rust Execution

Upon completion of the Intent portion of the Scour The Rust quest you will unlock the Timing portion of the quest. This quest tasks you with completing the following objectives:

  • 15 Super Final Blows
  • 40 Zones Captured.
  • 15 Final Blows with SMGs.

When ready to do so, jump back in the Iron Banner and start chasing the objectives listed above. For the most part this set of three objectives should be fairly easy to complete.

15 Super Final Blows

Like the other objectives this one should occur fairly naturally as you play through the Iron Banner game mode. Once your super is full, use it on enemies (the more grouped they are the better) to score final blows. Do this a total of three times to complete this objective.

15 Final Blows with SMGs

Once you’ve completed all the objectives listed above, return to Lord Saladin to claim your reward. Lord Saladin will give you the Fellwinter Frost Emblem.
