Overwatch 2, when it releases October 4th, will be free-to-play. Game monetization comes from an in-game skin shop, a premium battle pass, buyable heroes, and purchasable currency called Overwatch Coins. It will be available to play (with cross-play) on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch.

Easily the biggest game of the October 2022 video games is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The popular first-person military shooter franchise is getting a new addition on October 28th. The new game is a follow up to the 2019 released Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. The game features both a campaign mode and multiplayer mode for players to enjoy.

The campaign of Modern Warfare 2 marks the return of popular characters in the series including the likes of LT. Simon “Ghost” Riley and Captain John Price who are members of Task Force 141. You join the task force and travel with them across the globe dealing with world-threatening enemies and organizations.

On the multiplayer front players gain access to a wide-variety of content. There are Special Ops to complete in the co-operative mode alongside PvP content that promises post-launch support. When the game releases it will launch on PC, PlayStation 4/5, and Xbox One and Xbox X|S.

Fans of Resident Evil Village that are looking to get back into the game now have a reason to do so. A fairly substantial content pack called The Winter’s Expansion is set to release on October 28th. This expansion features a bunch of additions to the game:

  1. Third person mode.
  2. The Mercenaries Additional Orders.
  3. New Campaign: Shadows of Rose.

These new additions are included in the Gold Edition of the base game. If you don’t have that edition you will need to purchase the expansion when it launches on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.

Alongside the release of the expansion there is also a new multiplayer game set to launch called Resident Evil Re: Verse. This game has been in the works for some years. It is an asymmetrical multi-player experience pitting beloved player controlled characters from the Resident Evil series against player controlled monsters from the series. It will be free to Resident Evil Village owners on October 28th alongside the expansion.
