Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty Expansion Announced, Coming 2023
It was a busy day for developers CD Projekt Red and Cyberpunk 2077. Early this morning they held a Night City Wire Cyberpunk Edgerunner livestream full of a bunch of interesting announcements about the animated series and the game. The major game announcement of the stream was the reveal of the Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty expansion. This expansion is slated to release in 2023.
Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty Teaser Trailer
The teaser trailer shown during the livestream was only 57 seconds in length. In it was a glimpse at a number of locations, enemies, and characters players will get to interact with as the tale unfolds. Alongside these glimpses of gameplay we learn a bit about the story. In the trailer V appears to have sworn allegiance to the New United States of America.
Further in the livestream reveal it was confirmed that Keanu Reeves, who plays Johnny Silverhand in the game, will be returning to do voice work for the expansion. Johnny Silverhand is not happy you’ve decided to work for the New United States of America.
Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty has no confirmed release date aside from 2023. An important note is that the expansion will only be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X. The developers have begun to move away from the past-generation systems due to their technological limitations.
The release of the expansion was not the only announcement during the livestream. The developers shared news of Patch 1.6 which features a slew of new additions to the game including Nightrunner focused content to tie into the release of the animated series next-week. Patch 1.6 is out now.
